The surrounding areas host a wide range of activities from walking among beautiful countryside, historic sites, sampling local cider and delicious food, a trip to the theatre; or more adventurous activities. Hereford is only five miles away with its shops theatres, cinemas, restaurants and beautiful Cathedral.
A five minute walk from your door takes you down through into the beautiful Wye Valley to many footpaths that let you walk by the river for miles, passing secret islands and countryside spots which cry out for a picnic. The Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons, and even the Malvern Hills are lovely hill walking for those who like to get to the top of the world and take in the view and The Orchard is perfectly situated midway between all three.
Canoe hire companies stretch the length of the river Wye and exciting Karting, adventure activity and Pony Trekking venues can be found within striking distance. You have a huge selection of cycling routes taking in the small quiet country lanes you would expect in one of England’s least populated counties. If you like the more rugged and wild off-road cycling experience the Forest of Dean provides those too.
History is all around you here and we have a collection of great historical grand Castles like Croft or Eastnor, windswept ruins like Skenfrith or Painscastle, beautiful religious monuments like Hereford Cathedral or Tintern Abbey.
Herefordshire is a rural county with a great tradition of agriculture, we have a wealth of local produce and specialist food outlets along with restaurants that specialise in providing us with high quality interesting food that’s hard to find anywhere else in the country. There’s food festivals throughout the year, local cider and cheese making tours, giving a great selection of local produce for you to try. We also have a range of restaurants from the friendly local country pub with filling traditional menus to something a bit more adventurous from Michelin starred chefs.
