About Lois

Hi I am Lois and with my husband John we have run Spire House as a B&B for over 22 years. We like to think we understand what visitors to our area really want and our home is equipped to help everyone have a great holiday. From maps and guides to spare umbrellas we have got it. We have been lucky enough to meet people from across the world and now we want to do some more exploring ourselves. This is why we are offering our lovely home to rent as a holiday home. We really believe in getting the most out of everyday and hope that like minded people will enjoy our city as much as we do. Although a small city we really think it has a lot to offer, take our cinema for example, we are real movie fans and our cinema is certainly original! It takes 10 minutes to fast walk to the Playhouse, I know that because I am always late! John and I have seen some really outstanding productions there. We also enjoy Salisbury Arts Centre and have seen a variety of productions, talks and did a dance course in this old church. We will leave lots of information for our guests and also the opportunity to get some good discounts from the places we support.

Lois purchased this house in 1996

Why Lois chose Salisbury

Spire House has been my absolute passion for years now, every room has been decorated with love and I hope my special quirky touches are appreciated.

What makes this house unique

So often when guests arrive at Spire House they remark 'Oh isn't this house large,so much bigger than it looks from outside and what an amazing location'.

Great location, comfortable home, amazing kitchen! Stay here!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great spacious home that really felt like a home yet so close to everything in Salisbury. Lois and the property manager, Karen, were very helpful with the parking details and the many notes helped guide us through the intricacies of any home in the city. I would definitely recommend this place.

Lovely home in a great location 5 mins from city centre

  • 5 of 5

We had a very lovely 3 days in Salisbury in this very comfortable house. We were 7 people with 5 adults and 2 children from 4 from Canada, 3 from Yorks and the home accommodated us easily. It is very spacious with opportunities for groups to have differing activities, especially if the weather is unreliable. The bedrooms are large for the UK and each has an ensuite. The kitchen is modern very well appointed and the its obvious the owners are very well organised. The garden is a great place to relax for an hour or two to listen to the birds.

Lois was a pleasure to deal with and overall this property is Highly recommended

Fabulous home, well equipped, excellent communication and administration thank you!

Everything about this birthday was wonderful even the heavy rain all weekend! My girlfriends and I loved your home Lois - warm, spotlessly clean, comfy beds and a very well equipped kitchen. Attractive interior design too. Thoughtful touches at Spire House (such as soaps, shower gel and shampoo to milk, bread, muesli, marmalade and flowers) make it all the more welcoming. We had a great time.

Took a bus from Salisbury to Amesbury and walked back (15 miles!) via Stonehenge. Stopped at the Wheatsheaf pub in Lower Woodfood - welcoming with great beer and finished with lunch at the Wig and Quill, a 2 minute walk from Spire House. Delicious food and convivial staff. We topped it off with Trivial Pursuits in the snug and laughter and talking into the night. We'll definitely be back, thank you!

Special spot

  • 5 of 5

We chose to stay at Spire House for christmas and could not have picked a better place. Lois was most accomodating and easy to correspond with from the moment we booked.

The property itself is centrally located, close to shops and across the road from the main gate into the cathedral close. Despite being on one of the more main roads into the city you could not hear much; if any traffic outside. The house is pretty solid!

The stay was very comfortable, the property is stunning and each room is tastefully decorated. Lois and John even decorated the house for Christmas with a beautiful christmas tree and subtle decorations throughout the house. Which went down very well with my children. We didn't have to worry about anything, everything was there (except a clothes airer/dryer?) but towels, spare linen etc all provided and the basics were all there upon arrival so you can get in and have a cuppa immediately!

The parking was easy, and permits provided. We could always park right outside.

I would highly recommend this accomodation to anyone looking to visit Salisbury for us it felt like a home away from home!.

Lovely style house, very cosy and welcoming.

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived, the house was very warm and cosy and full of charm. Little notes left around the house were a nice touch as was the bread, milk and chocolates left for us. Fresh towels, house was spotless. Spoke to Lois a few times beforehand and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely recommend this property and Salisbury markets.
