About Jay Kronick

Peggy and Jay raised their children on this property. We have recently transitioned to a townhouse in Minneapolis and chosen to retain our ownership of this beautiful home and property. We still enjoy the home, and actively tend our landscaped yard, vegetable garden, and orchard. We are nearby most of the time to take care of anything our guests might need.

Jay Kronick purchased this house in 1989

Why Jay Kronick chose Minnesota

When we bought this property we were looking for a place in the country where our kids could grow up, where we would be close to our business, and where we'd be near family. Most local roads were gravel and although we are just 25 miles to downtown Minneapolis it felt like a world away.

We didn't envision just how the area would change and grow over time. There's still a half mile of gravel road to get to our driveway, but the suburbs have crept close. Most shopping needs are conveniently reached by car now within a 5-10 minute drive. A long planned highway (MN 212) now connects us to the urban center with ease. We still enjoy our sense of open space and privacy and feel like this home offers the best of both worlds. We hope you'll feel the same when you stay with us!

What makes this house unique

Our home and property is uniquely comfortable. We've made it what it is over 25 years with alot of love and our talents. Everything is tasteful and appropriate, but not luxurious or pretentious. Our home offers a pleasant common sense approach to living.

Peggy decorates with extraordinary style. She collects vintage items and furnishings and fixes them up. Our kitchen is a focal and gathering place of the home and she designed it with completely elegant country charm. Her touches are evident throughout.

Jay has a love for all things outdoors and is proud of the stewardship he has taken of the 5 acres in his care. He has planted almost every tree on the property (there are hundreds). He's built and maintains the landscape beds, and looks forward to planting and tending his large vegetable garden ever year. If you're here during the growing season he hopes to share with you whatever is growing in the garden.

Beautifully appointed home, excellent stay.

A family gathering of 8 fit comfortably in this spacious country home. The large kitchen and large table, with large windows and wrap around porch, was particularly special for our family meals. The patio with a landscaped pond area was relaxing, with an expansive view of rolling countryside. The rooms were well appointed, and the bedrooms were comfortable. The location was ideal with easy access to the city, or in our instance, towns to the west. As a family, we have rented VRBO homes in the past, and have voted this our favorite! We hope to use it again next year. As a group, we can't recommend this home enough!

Country Home in Chaska. This place was fantastic. All the charm and comfort of being in the country.

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect house for those of us that traveled from 4 different states (TN, FL, IL, MO ) to attend a brothers family reunion. We had the opportunity to be together under one roof and the setting could not of been more perfect. The gardens, flowers and ponds were pleasant to see and for picture taking. The decor of the house gave it that perfect country look and comfort. I would highly recommend this property to others as this home is spacious and comes with all the comforts you need to have a relaxing time.

Jay (the owner) and his family have gone over and above to make this the perfect country vacation home.

Thank you, Tim from Nashville

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful experience! Jay and Peggy have a beautiful, welcoming, calming home. My family was gathering for a long overdue family retreat that included 7 adults and 3 small children. The space was perfect for our needs. But it was more than the large, open, airy rooms. It was the attention to detail that I found so encouraging. From the kitchen (that was huge, open, lots of seating, and included every utensil or appliance needed), to the living room (with wonderfully comfortable chairs), the sun room (that the kids took over as their play room :-), to the outside space (with a three season porch and patio and large back yard). All areas had an artistic touch to the decoration and furnishing. These touches set the tone and the mood of the house, and in return the mood and tone of our entire family retreat. I can only thank Jay and Peggy for opening their home to us and providing us with such a wonderful experience.

We stayed at this beautiful country home over New Year's. The pictures do not do it justice! Every room is spacious and has been given a loving touch by the owners. Not a detail is missed! We had never been away from home over the holidays and were sad about not being surrounded by our own holiday decor. Our worries were soon forgotten as the homeowners left out decorations for us, which just added to the warmth and character that the home already exudes. Not only is the house amazing, well-maintained and clean, but the grounds are gorgeous, too! (Our pups were thrilled to explore a bit!) MN had just had a fresh snowfall when we arrived, and the hills surrounding the house were prime for sledding. As we were visiting our children and grandchildren, we invited everyone to sled on the hills and have hot chocolate and lunch at the huge dining room table for a truly Norman Rockwell-esque experience. Our only regret was enjoying ourselves so much that we forgot to take pictures! Sadly, the trip ended with a bout of the flu for my son. I had to request an extension to our stay in order to avoid a long car trip home. Jay, the owner, was extremely gracious in allowing us to stay. As a side note: my son ended up at the emergency room - and the 212 Medical Center nearby provided great service, if you find yourself in need. In fact, there are plenty of options for shopping, etc., very close by, literally within minutes. It's a great option for country living, without feeling isolated. Don't pass up on this lovely gem, as it is truly magical!

Perfect Christmas House!

  • 5 of 5

This home far exceeded our expectations! It was spacious, immaculate, and the rooms were beautifully appointed. The owners provided all the essentials needed for a stay at this home. It was the perfect place for our family to gather for the Christmas holiday. Our children and grandchildren loved the roominess of the house. Plenty of places to gather, yet places to find peace and quiet if needed. It is situated in a lovely setting with spectacular views and outdoor spaces, although all we did we sled! We will definitely book this home again!
