This cottage has all of the charm you'd expect. It sits on a quiet gravel road across from Lake Superior. It is quite ideal for walking your dog(s) and for those early morning strolls or late night star-gazing walks. Enjoy some Lake Superior views off of the front deck or sit inside by the stone fireplace and read, catch up on each other's lives, play some cards, put a puzzle together...reconnect and rejuvenate. There are no TVs but there is a Bluetooth/iPod/iPhone docking device for your music and news. We have plenty of books in our free book exchange and the Big Lake is always there to listen to. Two separate bedrooms have reading lights and very comfortable, quality beds/bedding. There is one 3/4 bath complete with towels and paper products. The full kitchen contains all one would need to make staying in and making your own meals a pleasure. Grilling out on the charcoal Webber that's there for your use is a great option, too. There are 3 cottages within our small resort which goes by the name of Kah-Nee-Tah Gallery & Cottages. Each one offers privacy and easy access to all of the surrounding hotspots. Cascade State Park is the closest but other State Parks are nearby, too. Lutsen Ski Hill, Lutsen Resort and Superior National Golf Course are all within a few miles. If you enjoy fishing there are many inland fishing lakes & rivers to test your angling skills. The most beautiful selection of rivers, hiking & biking trails are just outside the door and we're just a few miles from Grand Marais (which was just voted to be "The Coolest Small Town in America"!!!).
My daughter and I moved up to the North Shore several years ago and hit the ground running. We are both enjoying owning Kah-Nee-Tah Gallery & Cottages so much and appreciate the charm and rustic feel that the cottages have.
Linda Garrity purchased this cottage in 2014
The cottages are extremely affordable, charming and are very unique in that they still have a true cabin feel.
We are a dog-friendly resort and invite you to bring your furry family members!
Delightful, homey, comforting, comfortable, inspiring, restoring, clean, inviting, and healing.
Attention to detail is everywhere, down to the intentional picking of a cross-section of popular reading books. Everything is labeled and we didn't have to guess how things worked. The decor is "up north" meets your "family cabin", but more personal than commercial. Bathroom was recently remodeled, and very nice. Location is very secluded and you don't need to see the other cabin stayers if you want. Close to Grand Marais, Cascade and Canadian border it's great area to stay. We'll be staying at "our family cabin" again.
P.S. Great place to take your "4 legged" family members also. They give thought to that and do really mean "pet friendly".
My husband and I spent 5 nights in the Lakeview Cottage. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, which are small, but adequate. The mattresses are high quality and very comfortable. There is a full kitchen and charming living room with a big fieldstone fireplace. There are 3 cottages on the property and each are spaced well apart with forest in between. We felt like we had our own piece of real estate! The bathroom has been renovated. There are plenty of white fluffy towels and boutique quality bath supplies. I highly recommend Kah Nee Tah cottages and cannot wait to return!
We've been to this cabin several times. It has everything we need. It's clean, has a full kitchen and is very quiet. The cabin has a beautiful stone fireplace and is supplied with as much firewood (dry and easy to start) as we could use. It comes with a weber grill also. Just a few miles south of Grand Marais. I highly recommend it.
Kah-nee-tah has always been a magical, restoring place. The new owners are caring stewards of these very special cottages. If you are looking for a cozy, warm, inviting, quiet refuge in nature, there is no better place.
We had the most wonderful stay at the Lakeview Cabin! The atmosphere was just what you would want for a rustic winter retreat on the North Shore, a large fieldstone fireplace in a rustic log cabin in the woods. The remodeled bathroom still retained the charm of the cabin, but featured fresh, new amenities and fabulous spa-like soaps and lotions that I wish I could have bought at their gallery! The only thing I will mention is to bring a hair dryer if you need it! The kitchen was fully stocked with any cookware you could imagine, and they even had a grill and deck that looked out over Lake Superior, that we took advantage of even in February! Perfectly located close to Lutsen Mountains, where we went skiing and a short drive to some great eatery's in Grand Marais!
Topped the weekend off with a visit to their great art gallery where I had a hard time deciding on a little token to remind us of our great weekend!
We will certainly be back with the puppers to enjoy another weekend!
This cottage is only a few miles from Grand Marais, recently voted "America's Coolest Small Town".
