About Katie Rottier
We are Peter and Katie, both from Madison, WI and went to college together in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Peter grew up coming to Cable with his family for summer vacations, where they fell in love with Lake Namakagon decades ago. Our favorite things about the cabin are watching amazing orange and pink sunsets, eagles soaring through the sky, and leisurely boat rides to grab lunch or cocktails on one of the many restaurants on the lake. Other family members also own cabins on the lake, making this place truly unique and a special place to start our own family memories and inspire yours! We have three small children who love the cabin too, especially nature walks with grandpa, tubing with their uncles, and getting ice cream downtown Cable. We live by San Francisco, California permanently, and get back to the cabin 2-3 times a year, wish it was more! We plan to retire here part time some day.
Katie Rottier purchased this Cabin in 2014
What makes this Cabin unique
We have renovated and decorated this cabin with love, as if we stayed here all the time, this is not your run of the mill rental. Small details make all the difference and we love the cozy and inviting feel this up north retreat offers our family and yours.

Location, Location, Location
The most impressive attribute of this rental is the location. It is situated on arguably one of the nicest north woods lakes in Wisconsin, a large clear lake with many islands and bays. The cabin sits on an elevated peninsula right on the water with great views. It is very private since the land extends beyond the home on the left and is quite a distance and hidden by forest from the home on the right.
In addition to the lake access, this cabin is less than a 10 minute walk to the Garmisch Inn, which offers daily food service, boat rentals and a nice bar often with entertainment on the weekend.
One other nice feature is the large private backyard with a nice fire pit.
The cabin is a walkout, with 1 large bedroom and bath with shower below as well as two bedrooms and a full bath above, a nice setup for two families. All the amenities worked and the furniture and appliances were adequate and above average compared to most rentals.
Although it probably sleeps 10, the cabin would get a little claustrophobic on a rainy day with that many. The ceilings are low on each floor and overall the cabin was a little dark. Only suggestion I would have is to improve the lighting, especially in the downstairs bedroom.
There is a small screened in porch that would hold about 4 adults. They do have a spraying service and that does help keep Wisconsin's State Bird the mosquito at bay, but bring your bug spray nevertheless.
Swimming is not ideal for small children due to the steep drop off and no beach, although the Garmish has a private beach that is ideal for families.
I would recommend this rental for up to two small families.
Excellent location on the lake! We had everything we needed and had a wonderful stay.
Property is well maintained, has all the comforts of home and with a newly remodeled lower level has great space for family hangouts! Loved the screen porch too! Fish were biting.
Great north woods cabin on a beautiful lake
Great cabin, perfect for the Birkie! Nice kitchen!
We highly recommend this property. The cabin is beautiful, clean, comfortable, and very relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake and many of the local establishments for breakfast, dinner, and drinks! Despite a couple of cool and wet days we had a wonderful time. We're very much looking forward to another visit.
Had a wonderful time at this beautiful lake home
This was the second time we have stayed here and hope to come back next year, this lake home has it all,
great location and all the amenities you could ask for, also having Ralph close by for any of our needs was greatly appreciated, Thank You
Million dollar location. Everything we expected and more.
We enjoyed every aspect from accommodations to recreation opportunities. Above all the views from this lake home will keep us coming back.
On Lake Namakagon just miles from the quaint town of Cable, WI and the larger city of Hayward, where you'll find many choices of restaurants and nightlife, and numerous boutique home and apparel shops.
There are plenty of activities for the kids and family including the Cable Natural History Museum with monthly interactive exhibits such as Superheroes (http://www.cablemuseum.org), Forest Lodge Library, Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum (climb inside the 20 foot tall Muskie!), go carting, mini golf, hikes at Copper Falls, holiday parades and ice cream shops.
Area is noted for an extensive network of biking, skiing, ATV, and snowmobile trails. It is a great lake for boating, biking, fishing, waterskiing, tubing, snowmobiling, sledding, snowshoeing or just touring. There is a choice of 5 restaurants/bars with lake side seating.
Fun seasonal events to attend include the famous American Birkebeiner Ski Race and the Lumberjack World Championships.
