Charming Adirondack cabins nestled at the water's edge of Lake Colby. Experience the majestic beauty of the Adirondacks in one of 3 beautifully appointed cabins.
The Hideaway cabin provides the amenities of home while being surrounded by Adirondack style.
The cabins are located in the heart of the Adirondacks. Just 10 minutes from Lake Placid's shops and restaurants and within walking distance to the Town of Saranac Lake, named one of "America's 25 Coolest Mountain Towns."
Lake Colby is a quiet 10hp maximum lake known for its excellent fishing with 272 acres to explore. Canoes, kayaks and a row boat are awaiting your exploration. Take in the spectacular sunsets from your cabin, listen for the frequent calls of the loon or just enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
We had a great time. The cabin was everything we wanted. We were on the lake! The cabin was cozy, the hosts were great and the fall colors terrific.
I am very happy as I write this review because it reminds me of our stay at the Hideaway Cabin. It was truly delightful. As soon as we arrived we were so pleased with everything - the lake is beautiful and calming, and the cabin has everything you need. You are literally a few steps from the lake, which is beautiful (and different) all through the day. We spent a lot of time sitting on the chairs by the lake, and when we finally took out the row boat one evening, and the kayaks the next, we were so happy that we did. Being out on the lake in a boat was something truly special, and such a great antidote to our city lives. There are few houses on the lake, so you really get a sense of being in nature. The cabin was really neat, and clean - the front window looks out on the lake, so it is essentially like a screened in porch. There are cool knick-knacks around the house that make you feel like you're in the Adirondacks, and there's everything you need to feel comfortable. We grilled almost every night, and build a fire in the fire pit our last night. John and Kelly were great hosts - they were very respectful of the privacy of the guests, and very helpful and welcoming. We were greeted with a basket of stuff, including a bottle of wine, and since we had not brought any, it was nice to have on our first night. They were also helpful with regard to getting us situated in the area; we enjoyed the town of Saranac Lake, though we ate in every night since we enjoyed the cabin and lake so much. The town is charming and fun, and the region is incredible to explore. We hiked a lot, and tried to enjoy as much of the natural world as we could, including the animals that live right there on the lake. Highly recommended, and sometimes I wish I was still there ...
Hideaway cabin was fully equipped and nicely furnished. Lake Colby is fine for swimming and boating. And nice, friendly people -- what else could I ask for.
One could not ask for a more beautiful setting on Lake Colby. The cabins are meticulously appointed and stocked with everything for either a quick getaway or an extended stay. Kelli and John, the hosts, are gracious and helpful and the proximity to Saranac and Lake Placid make it easy to find shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed nearby hikes, relaxing after with a glass of wine in our Adirondack chairs. Highly recommend these cabins!
The cabin is near perfect for 2 people. While the bedroom and bath are 'compact', the living area is very comfortable, with a great view of Lake Colby, only a few feet away. The kitchen has everything you might need. The area in front of the cabin is very private. A row of bushes separates it from the other cabins. Since the other cabins are limited to 4 people, the area is very quiet and relaxing. Kayaks and canoes are included - a real convenience.
The cabin was in perfect condition. Very clean. Nicely decorated. The owners live on the premises, ready to help in any way.
The town of Saranac Lake is a short walk away. The town provides a lot of local flavor.
We had some car trouble, but a repair shop is close by on st 86 - very convenient.
If you want a great place to relax, close to sites in Lake Placid, you won't be disappointed.
Donnelly's Ice Cream is just up the road. "They pick the flavor, you pick the size". No kidding - they serve a twist of vanilla and another flavor, only one flavor a day. There's always a line.
What a wonderful and peaceful place to stay for a getaway. The cabin had so much character and had everything you needed. We were right on the water and could go canoeing, kayaking and fishing. We went bike riding around town and enjoyed 2 hikes that were close by. Kelly and John are delightful hosts.
