Some good and some bad

  • 3 of 5

Good points: Located in a quiet position on the Causeway Coast and Ulster Way. Good, clean and ample accommodation for 2 people equipped with most things that you would need.

Bad points: Had problems with communicating with the owner and it took 3 calls to the HomeAway Help Centre to get through. Whilst there is an O2 personal hotspot in the property, which was able to see my laptop, it was only able to connect to the internet for ~10 secs. before disconnecting. On asking the owner (Clem) he informed me that the cottages had never had an internet connection, but was not worried that the website listed it as having one. Space would be very tight for 4 people.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response and delighted you found the property clean and well located. Our cottage is maintained to highest level of cleaning and maintenance. Often promoted as 'petite' the cottage is small as is promoted as such in all our websites. Hard to believe that for some centuries large families will have been raised in dwellings of this size . The cottage is in a beautiful seaside/rural area serviced by mobile connections from most of the main networks. Fortunately these days mobile phones have 3g and 4g and hot spot connections that satisfies even our teenagers lust for internet. We use tablets connected to O2 and Vodafone for a 4g connection which we find very successful for searches and mail. So we are very surprised and disappointed that in your review title you choose to use 'bad' and have taken 2 stars of our beautiful cottage for no internet connection especially since we do not promote an internet connection. We thought top quality linens and Italian leather furniture & a thoughtfully & very well equipped kitchen would drive good reviews, and thankfully it does from our previous guests. You see, we do not advertise internet with any of the 17 holiday let companies that we are advertised with. (The old dongle you tried to connect to was not for your use and is back in shed now.) When you telephoned to enquire about internet we advised you where you can hook up in local cafes and pubs and our guests tell us this is great way to start meeting the locals. We enjoy feedback from our guests, so thank you again and keep the feedback flowing it may be something that will help our next guests.

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a great experience! The Cottage is in the perfect location, charming and clean! It had everything we needed and more. The perfect place for a longer get away and we wish we could have stayed longer! The house was accurately described. Loved having the washer dryer. The host was acessible and left us with great recommendations for dining, etc. Our family of three was quite comfortable.

Amazing, eveyerthing was well presented and very confortable. Great location, absolutley beautiful

  • 5 of 5

What a unique little cottage. Great care has been taken in the presentation and everything seems to have been thought of. The area is beautiful, endless great walks and very good restaurants but you do need a car. Its about 10 minutes to Ballycastle and for restaurants 15 minutes to Bushmills. Must come back again to visit Rathlin Island, there is a day return trip to the island.
