About the property

3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom creek side home with canyon views 10 miles to Sedona

Step into "Call of the Canyon" and you will quickly realize you have found a special place. Generous windows give view to the peaceful stream and soaring canyon. Located in the Coconino National Forest, next to West Fork Oak Creek trail you will find plenty to explore in your own backyard. Walk down the steps to the creek and fish for trout or just relax and enjoy the scenery from the deck and try out the new Weber gas grill.

LIVING ROOM/DINING area/KITCHEN

The house has 3 levels. The main level opens up to a fully equipped kitchen, living room and half bathroom. Within the kitchen is a dining table with seating for 4 plus 3 bar stools for counter-top eating. There is also a washer/dryer within a closet off the kitchen.

The living room has ample seating to enjoy views of the creek and soaring canyon. There is also a working fireplace within the living room.

DECK AREA

Off the main level is the deck- a perfect place for morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. The deck is accessed through a sliding screen door off the living room. We have two cocktail sized tables that can be put on the deck. There are 4 tall chairs and 2 bar stools that can be used on the deck as well. We also have a grill for your use.

BEDROOMS/BATHROOMS

The house has a total of three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

The Master Bedroom has a king bed with an en- suite bathroom and double vanity. There is also a private door entry to this bedroom. The master is located on the lower level and does have generous window views to the creek.

The Guest Bedroom has a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom and double vanity. There is also a private door entry to this bedroom. It too has generous windows with views to the creek. This bedroom is located on the lower level.

The Loft Bedroom is located on the upper level. Natural light fills the bedroom. The loft area does not have its own bathroom.

COMPLIMENTARY WIFI and CABLE

We do have wifi. We cannot guarantee that it will be perfect 100% of the time as the location/canyon signal is sometimes intermittent.

Please note that due to the location of this property and the environmental benefits gained we have opted to use Sun-Mar composting toilets. Operating the toilets is not difficult. You do not use water. Its a composting system in which you use peat moss and turn a drum.

LOCATION

Oak Creek Canyon is approximately 12 miles long and 2000 feet deep. Although private and out of town, Sedona is just 15 minutes away or 9.5 miles. A number of small shops are conveniently located to the home. Junipine Cafe and the Butterfly Garden serve food and are only minutes from the home. Slide Rock Park is just 4 miles south from the house. Here you can enjoy a day of fun swimming on the natural rocks. According to Rand McNally, the Oak Creek Scenic Drive is one of the Top 5 Most Scenic Drives in America.

Gorgeous getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property in a great location for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The accommodations are very comfortable, and the house has everything you'll need. It was so wonderful to open the windows and fall asleep to the sound of a babbling brook below! The enviro-friendly toilets are great, though some people in our group thought they might get tired of them during a longer stay, and they could cause difficult for people with mobility issues.

Adventure in Canyon

  • 5 of 5

House is in a great location! The west fork trail, right next door, was one of our favorite hikes ever! The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with tools for a few meals cooked and enjoyed there with our family of five. Three boys ages 10,12,13. Sleeping was a little tricky because the boys slept two floors below us, with doors that open to the outside. Our last night we had a family slumber party in the loft. We recommend this for a cozy nights sleep.

Spacious and functional in a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

There was plenty of room for 6 and all the kitchen accoutrements we needed. The place is a sparsely, but adequately furnished home base for exploring everything Sedona and Flagstaff have to offer. We had all of the essentials. Ingress and egress could be complicated with the traffic at the West Fork lot, but it was nothing we couldn’t navigate by asking idling cars to move. Grill was great; tv was a sufficient, but not impressive setup for March Madness. Toilets were a non-issue.

Gorgeous Place in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Wish we could stay here forever! The house is open and airy, you feel like you are in the woods when you're in the house. It's so perfectly located between Sedona and Flagstaff, you have easy access to activities in either place, however, we would have been happy to just sit and watch the creek go by! Do not miss the West Fork hike right out your back door, most beautiful hike we have ever been on!

Great access to the creek and hiking

  • 3 of 5

We had a great weekend however there were some issues. As noted in other reviews the house is great but needs some TLC. As noted the house has some unusual toilets which we could deal with but one of the toilets down stairs was so loud that we slept upstairs in the loft area. The deck was great but patio door is tough to open and needs repair. The screen door is damaged beyond repair. The grill was nice and had not been used much so that was nice.

Overall, we had great time but would only return if some repairs we made. John was a great host and accessible by phone. When we arrived we did not have water as the creek level was too low. John had someone out there within an hour and they took care of the problem. The house has direct TV but no local channels. Not that we went up there to watch TV but it is nice to have in the morning when I am enjoying my coffee. The kitchen was nicely stocked with plenty of wine glasses and other items. Someone had left a beer in the refrig so we did same when we left. Beer pay it forward!.

Make sure you hike West Fork trail. One of the best!!!!!! $2 per person to walk in.

When you pull into the parking look behind you to your right and that's where you will find the house. The house is near the road that you pull off of. The noise from the road is blocked out my creek sounds.

Peaceful and lovely Oak Creek home

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here Christmas week, and really enjoyed the house. It is right next to the West Fork trail, which is amazing, and so convenient as the lot filled up every day! The kitchen is well stocked and we really appreciated the large jugs of water in the fridge, as we forgot to purchase these on the way. It is hard to find at night; I would have asked John more questions but we found our way. The composting toilets are easy to use, keep in mind you are preventing sewage from getting into the creek! One note: the house is 15 minutes from uptown Sedona.
