Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Saint-Denis-lès-Martel - Maubuisson

The property is located between Brive, Sarlat and Rocamadour. You are just minutes from the most beautiful villages of France, as Collonges la Rouge, Turenne, Curemonte but also Caves of Padirac and Lacave, and the village of Rocamadour.

The Castle was carefully decorated with antique objects, including old ones. A mixture of objects of our regions mingle happily with carpets and fabrics from Morocco. A personal home for personal stay, with a particular personality.

In summer, you can have dinner under the trees or swim in the pool that gives onto a breathtaking view and overlooks the church. In the evening you can admire the sunset, the view of the cliffs, and you will be lulled by the sound of the stream flowing along the property.

About Patricia Defever

I am an writter and a publisher, based in Morocco.

I am fond of authentic preserved architecture and of this region so much that I wrote a book on this valley (available in english on amazon.com), "the Dordogne valley off the beaten path".

Why Patricia Defever chose Lot

I fell in love with the renovation of elegant and full of history country houses. More over, my family comes from the Dordogne Valley, which convinced me to move back more than 20 years ago in this fantastic and preserved region of France.

This region provides such a huge amount of cultural activities that it remains full of surprises even after all these years.

This property seduce me by its specific atmosphere and view point on the valley.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

When I first visited this property, I was charmed not only by its architecture but also by its natural environment, the cliffs and the Dordogne valley.

Today, we still enjoy having our breakfasts and dinners in front of the stunning view, when we are not playing cards by the pool. Being surrounded by the garden, full of flowers and birds singing, is a real pleasure that we particuliarly enjoy during summer.

All seasons have their charm, even in Winter with the chimney.

The property is ideally situated at close distance from the main sites and marvels of the region, Rocamadour, Padirac, Sarlat, Lascaux, Carennac, Turenne, Collonges la Rouge, Saint-Céré...

When winter is coming, we gather together by the fireplace with some hot chocolate and a nice book, making this place as comfortable in winter than it is in summer !

Amazing holidays, great views and swimming pool!

We wanted to rent a spacious property to enjoy a family holidays so the cousins could come and see us during our stay this summer. The location is ideal with 10 minutes walk from the railway station , no need to taxi any visitors!

The chateau has been tastefully re-decorated with high specs and the accommodation is very comfortable. Super clean and ample space for each of us to retire in a room and enjoy the piece and quiet this place had to offer. We loved that the owner has respected the integrity of the building and her attention to detail is amazing, it's big yet cosy. The view from the house is breathtaking and the swimming pool was really a plus. We have been able to go on walks nearby and had fun days out by the Dordogne and sight seeing the beautiful villages (Rouge La Colombe!) and hamlets of the region. The owner was really thoughtful in her recommendations and also provided us with tips for best gastronomic experience. We can't wait to organise another holiday in this property and would probably want to experience it in a different season too, perhaps Spring or Autumn. It really is a gem!
