About the property

1920's Artist cottage with modern kitchen, bath and new queen bed

Luxurious, charming, unique, and perfect.

The almost 500-square-foot house at Snow Hill Street is the North End’s tiniest standalone single-family. It’s also one of the 10 tiniest houses in Boston, period.

Despite its diminutive size, Snow Hill certainly packs a lot in. There’s a bedroom loft with a new queen bed for one thing, and a full modern kitchen. There is also a new large tiled shower and a comfy living room with rocking chair. There’s even a fireplace and a private patio where you can have your morning coffee or sip some wine.

From the cast iron spiral staircase that takes you up to the cozy bedroom loft, to The living room adorned with old world rough pine paneling and a brick fireplace.

Located in the heart of Boston's historic North End, this single cottage, flooded with natural light from the skylights, was originally used as a sculptor's studio in the early 1960's.

For the past 95 years this property has been one of the most charming residences in the North End.

The modern full kitchen is ready to serve a delicious home made meal, that can be eaten either outside on the beautiful flower designed patio or inside on the new glass dining table, either way you choose, you dine in comfort.

The bathroom is very modern and luxurious with a subway tiled large shower with a Carrera marble bench seat and heated floors.

The dining area seats four and the living area has a double recliner, and an antique rocking chair, where you can sit back and relax as you watch the Sony 40" smart TV, or listen to our collection of music Cd's, or you can watch a movie on the Blu ray player with the collection of movies we have available.

After a day of walking the Freedom Trail you will retire comfortably to

The bedroom loft with it's new queen size bed with gel foam mattress, a laptop work desk is available for those who wish to read their Email or surf the internet.

A large dresser will store your clothes so you don't have to live out of your suit case.

Outside awaits one of the nicest rooms we offer, A comfortable patio with a table, umbrella and chairs, where you you can enjoy feasting on your home cooked meals, or just

relaxing and sipping your morning espresso or your evening glass of wine.

The North End, Boston’s “Little Italy,” is famous for its Italian food and feasts. It is Boston’s oldest neighborhood, a one-square-mile waterfront community not far from Faneuil Hall with a population of about 10,000.

With close to 100 restaurants, Pastry shops and boutiques, you just can't go wrong if you like to eat and shop

.At the top of the hill lies a dog park for those who bring Fido and a parking garage is also located at the end of the street.

The Four great reasons to visit the North End:

About Joseph and Susan DeFazio Property owners

I spent the early part of my youth living in the North End. My family owned a home just up the street from the Cottage on Hull St.

I attended Saint Anthony's, Saint Mary's and Christopher Columbus High School all located in the North End. We attended

Sunday mass at either Saint Leonard's or Saint Mary's churches, My mother loved the children's Choirs at these churches and we would split our time between them.

My family moved to the South Shore in the late sixties due to my fathers job change. Thou we moved out of the North End my relatives still lived there and we visited frequently at least once a month.

I have always loved the North End and returned there to visit my Aunts and walk the neighborhood streets every chance I could get.

Why Joseph and Susan DeFazio Property owners chose North End

The Enchanted Cottage is right off the Freedom Trail and right around the corner from the Old North church, within walking distance to everything that you came to Boston to experience.

This cottage is not just a rental but a family home that has been part of my family for over 40 years. It is unique in that it is a single family home and not an apartment, it also has an outside patio and does not require you to climb two or three flights of stairs.

What makes this cottage unique

The Enchanted Cottage is a single family home with a wonderful patio, where you can sit out side and enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine,

Where you can enjoy a conversation with the friendly residents of the area or the Boston visitors who always stop and ask about the cottage.

The 420-square-foot house at 54 Snow Hill Street is the North End’s tiniest standalone single-family. It’s also one of the 10 tiniest houses in Boston, period.

Despite its diminutive size, Snow Hill certainly packs a lot in. There’s a bedroom loft, for one thing, and a full kitchen. There is also a full bathroom and a living room. There’s even a fireplace and a private patio.

Lovely quaint cottage, great hosts, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the North End Enchanted Cottage.

Situated within yards of the Freedom Trail and in the "Italian" quarter with all the restaurant and pastry shops only a few minutes away, this was the perfect location for our vacation in Boston in June 2018. It's also only about 20min walk from Longwarf where you can catch ferries to Salem, Cape Cod, and most of the harbour islands. We literally walked everywhere but there is a T station just down the street if you get tired.

Talking about the cottage itself, what a find! Beautifully decorated, absolutely spotless, full of character (fireplace, spiral staircase, exposed brick wall etc...) and with a fully equipped kitchen and great bathroom too! There is also a small patio where we enjoyed having breakfast or a few drinks in the evening (we were blessed with amazing weather during our stay). And the fridge and cupboards are fully stocked with food/essentials. We landed at 9pm after a long flight from the UK and we're grateful for the cold beers in the fridge and everything to get a cooked breakfast when we woke up the next day! Oh and there was a coded box to collect the key so checking-in late at night wasn't an issue. There's also plenty of towels and all the toiletries you need in the bathroom: shower gel, soap, shampoo, hair gels, hair spray...

The bed was so comfortable too!

The hosts Joe and Sue are such lovely people and only a phone call away. They sent messages about things to do in the area, restaurant suggestions and to make sure that everything was perfect for our stay.

We were lucky to get to meet them shortly at the weekend too.

If we ever come back to Boston, this place will definitely be my first choice and I can't recommend it enough! I'd give it 6 stars if i could as i can't think of anything negative to say about the place!

Thank you Joe and Sue for making us feel so welcome!

Fantastic place in the North End!

  • 5 of 5

We were specifically looking for a place to stay in the North End because of its proximity to the Freedom Trail AND all the great food. This place did not disappoint. We were able to stay in the neighborhood we wanted, off a quite side street, and at a very reasonable price. Being two blocks from the river, two blocks from the Old North Church, and two blocks from great restaurants, the Enchanted Cottage is a well placed option in the North End. Joe and Sue have done a terrific job and have gone out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable - travel sized toiletries, breakfast food, snacks, etc. The more time you spend inside, the more you realize the amount of thought and effort they have put into the amenities. The cottage has definitely been one of the most well equipped places we’ve stayed at via HomeAway. With the cute space and fantastic flowers, the patio is the envy of the neighborhood. While sitting outside we would literally receive compliments every evening from both locals and tourists. A local neighbor said the place has really inspired him to do more with his apartment. We’ve already recommended it to friends of ours and will definitely stay here again if we’re back in Boston. If you’re looking to experience the city, then this is the way to go. You don’t get the same experience staying in a hotel. Joe and Sue were such fantastic hosts. They gave great restaurant recommendations (Limoncello), provided a great experience for us, and were very prompt in returning the security deposit (within a day after our checkout). Thank you so much for helping to make it a great vacation!

Immerse Yourself!

  • 5 of 5

Anyone can stay in a step and repeat chain hotel. Staying in a lovely quaint place like this gives you a better feel for the area. Close by the British set up their cannon to fire on Bunker Hill! A couple of blocks away and you're in the North End Italian restaurant district. Just far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood for peaceful sleep. We left our car at home. The North Station "T" (Boston Metro) is also just a couple of blocks away and got us from the airport, all around the city and beyond.

The cottage owners are great. Very generous, providing almost everything we needed in the cottage from food, water to Q-tips. They checked in with us via text a few times to make sure everything was going well and offered suggestions on local restaurants. Great visit!

FYI- If you're stair challenged the loft bedroom spiral staircase may be too much.

Warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

Pure luxury and comfort all in one. The cottage was so exquisitely decorated. Joe and Sue are the best host! I arrived in wee hours of the morning, and Joe made sure to have a flash light out for me! The fridge was stocked the cubbard full, the bed was so comfortable.

Having all the luxury items, fully uodated, luxury appointment's. I travel around the world, but the North End is my birthplace, where my childhood memories still live in my heart, being in the cottage, brought back the feeling being at my grandmothers, the memory of Sunday gravey, and polenta and macaroni boiling. Even enjoyed lighting the flire, and watched "The Sound of Music" and felt as if I was right at home.

The cottage will he my first choice when staying down the North End.

Thank you Joe and Sue. Ciao
