3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom, with 7 Beds, 5 min to downtown Austin.

Nestled in the Barton Hills, this Retreat to Nature is just 2 miles from downtown. If you're visiting and looking for a space of your own that's central but away from the chaos of downtown, this is the place for you.

Things To Do:

Get some vitamin D and grill on the open deck, then walk through the backyard directly onto the famous greenbelt nature preserve where you can hike and swim. If you're looking to visit other Austin landmarks such as Zilker Park or Barton Springs, they're just a short and scenic 30 minute walk away.

When you're ready to explore the city or planning a night on the town, take a 5 minute uber to any of Austin's bar scenes-- 6th Street, Rainey, or Warehouse District.

When you're ready for a bit of downtime, make yourself at home and enjoy the xbox 360 or cable TV on the 48" HDTV. Watch Netflix, Hulu, Golf Channel, ESPN, etc.

You'll love the views in the Retreat to Nature home. All windows look out onto the greenery in the backyard, full of lush trees. This means you'll have maximum relaxation and privacy. If you're traveling in a group, keep in mind that the home features 7 beds to sleep 10 total people comfortably.

- Master bedroom upstairs features 1 King Size Bed and a desk

- Spacious bedroom upstairs features 1 Full Size Bed

- Sleepover bedroom upstairs features 4 Twin Beds (2 bunk beds)

- Living room downstairs features 1 Full Size sleeper sofa bed

The Baths:

- 2 full bathrooms shower/ tub combo upstairs

- .5 bathroom downstairs

Cook & BBQ:

- Make yourself at home and prepare meals or snacks throughout your stay. The kitchen is stocked with appliances, cooking equipment, and cooking supplies like olive oil & spices.

- The backyard is accessible through the downstairs door and it includes a spacious deck for entertaining and a propane grill/ grill supplies.

Other details:

If I'm available I'll meet you at the house to give you a tour. I'll be available throughout your stay via phone or text for any questions. I'm happy to be your concierge and give you tips on getting around and places to see.

If you have more than 9 people in your group, please contact me for additional accommodation options for extra large groups.

Retreat to Nature rules:

- Mi casa es su casa. As this is my home, I ask that you take care of it as if it were your own. - The professional housekeeping fee covers a cleaning before you arrive, so please be courteous and leave the space as you found it.

- Please no smoking inside.

- Please respect my neighbors and keep it down if you're outside after 10pm.

- You are renting half of a duplex.

--If additional undocumented guests are on property for more than 6 hrs, an additional guest fee of $50 (per person) will be charged to bill.

For 3 bedrooms & price & location, it's the BEST!

All of the positives mentioned in the other reviews are very much accurate, so I am not going to restate all of those. I am going to focus on the fantastic LOCATION of the house and what you can do from that location. The bottom line is that for three bedrooms, for the price, there isn’t a better place to stay in Austin.

It is close to downtown and the Barton Creek Greenbelt (See Yelp: barton-creek-greenbelt-austin) is right out the backdoor. Looking out the backdoor and walking down the 30 yard trail to the Barton Creek Greenbelt makes you think that you are staying in a rental in Gatlinburg and not 2-3 miles from downtown Austin.

The short bike ride to Zilker Park (See Yelp: zilker-metropolitan-park- austin) from the house has very little traffic. It isn’t super easy due to the hills. There is a shortcut if you check google maps. I was able to pull our toddler in a cart behind my bike, but my legs were burning a little while on the 0.4 mile section on Spyglass (2 hills here (google map the bike route)). We were able to ride right into Zilker Park and hang out at the Barton Springs Pool, etc. (See Yelp barton-springs-pool-austin).

Just across the street from the house is a small convenience store and the TacoDeli (great tacos).

We also made use of InstaRyde and found it convenient and affordable. We went to a UT football game and I didn’t want to figure out the traffic and parking.

The BEST thing to do at this house is make use of the creek/trail behind the house. It is pretty awesome. Lots of people and dogs (especially on the weekends) hanging out here. My wife and I did something a little different here, we tubed down it. I didn’t see anyone else doing it and I won’t say that it is 100% safe or even 90% safe (you may want to walk around the rapids), but it was quite fun. It is my understanding that the water level can change dramatically, depending on rain (Google barton-creek-greenbelt-water- levels). If you check the Loop360 waterflow and if it is going at 50 cubic feet per second that is a pretty nice ride. As it gets slower, you may drag a little more as it becomes shallower. If it is a lot higher, better be extra careful in the rapids, or walk around them.

Lastly, I recommend doing a Bat watching sunset cruise. We went with lonestar ($10 per adult) (Google Lonestarriverboat bat_watching_sunset_cruises), but there are others as well.

Good location, terrible customer service from owner

Just got back from our stay this past week.

Pros:

--good location, easy in/out of downtown

--nice neighborhood

--access to the trail right from back of the duplex

Cons

--not cleaned upon arrival

--we found toothpaste on the sinks, shower gel in the shower, shower mats looked dirty, stove didn't look clean

--found shards of glass from the broken slider that leads to the deck. We had to sweep it up so we wouldn't cut ourselves. There still remained a rim of broken glass around the slider that could have cut someone. No advance notice of this problem.

--way overpriced for the unit, a lot smaller than it looks in the pictures

--poor response from the property manager and owner

We arrived Saturday evening and emailed the property manager that night to make a complaint re: condition of property. Didn't hear back until Monday. We also had someone come to the door Monday morning telling us he was there to repair the broken slider. The owner and/or property manager did not give us advance notice--so if we weren't there they would have entered the property without us knowing. A total breach of the agreement. We could have had valuables out.

We attempted to communicate our concerns with the property manager and the only response was for them to want to send a cleaning company over. We already cleaned the bathrooms and swept, etc.! They made that offer several times---the owner wanted to come over to discuss our concerns. As if that's what we wanted to do on our vacation--process the fact that the unit didn't look as if it was cleaned and to have it re-cleaned?! We have made our expectations known--we would like a cleaning refund--why should we pay for cleaning on both ends when it wasn't delivered properly? No response regarding this. I have explained to the owner what we are looking for and he has not responded.

Not acceptable customer service for what you are paying for this unit. You are paying top dollar and we expect it to be in excellent condition. The fridge was full of groceries---opened bottles of jam, etc. as were the cupboards and in the bathrooms. Seems as if the owner is also staying there at times? Just didn't feel clean seeing all of that.

We are disputing the charges on this and will be making formal complaints. It is quite disappointing and disrespectful for the owner and property manager not to refund the cleaning fees. We are not asking for a refund on the money paid for the unit, just the cleaning fees.

Great Location

This place was wonderful. Gary was so helpful and nice, even picked up some things we had shipped and brought it over to the house. The house had everything we needed, beautiful Barton Springs was just steps away and amazing tacos and a coffee/smoothie shop were just across the street. Downtown Austin was a quick it's 10 minute drive from the house. It had a little bit more wear and tear and was less modern than what the picture showed but overall we had a great stay and would definitely stay here again.

overall a clean and nice house with great location

The kitchen was remodeled and stocked well. It has a nice deck.

It is clean-which is important!

The owner is very nice, really cares about your experience. He checked in with us to see if we needed anything, and gave us helpful information about the area.

Great parks, paddle boarding and bike rental are very close in addition to hiking and swimming Barton Creek out the back door.

I will say that the house (duplex) and its bedrooms and baths are not quite as large as pictures imply and the 3 bedrooms are all together upstairs sharing 2 baths. It was tight with 7 grown people. But-

Overall-it was a good experience!!

Perfect in every way!

This property was ideal for our vacation. There were five of us (three teenage boys) and this home was the perfect size. Everybody slept well on his own comfortable bed, the living room was spacious enough for us to relax in the cushy couches and watch a movie (plenty of dvd's to choose from!), and the table and island were perfect for eating a bite. We loved walking down to the taco truck or grabbing a pizza (so good!) at the same little shopping center. The best part was walking out the back yard down to the greenbelt. The water was beautiful and the perfect temp. We especially liked to head left down the trail and find a spot where the water was boiling over the boulders and pooling up in little jacuzzis of bubbles just for us. We had our dog with us, and this was the best vacation ever because she was able to explore the trails with us or stay behind in the fenced in yard and relax under the shade of the trees or on the expansive deck. We never did use the grill, but thought it was such a luxury to have the patio table, umbrella, and large grill available. Overall, there is nothing I can think of to improve this location for future travelers.

Perfect for our needs

The location was central to most of the places we needed to go and only 5 minutes from my daughter and family. David was only a phone call away with help or advice and Alan next store as a backup. The home had everything one could possibly need from scotch tape to printer. The private entrance to the green belt was an extra plus.
