Quiet and peace in the centre of the action

About Paul and Kathy Myles
Kathy and I have kept a boat in the Harbour for 15 years, We used to stay in our caravan on a nearby farm to access Looe, but now have been lucky enough to be able to buy and renovate Foam Cottage. As we are only in Looe once a month we thought it would be good for Looe, and visitors if we let it when we are not there.
Paul and Kathy Myles purchased this House in 2015
Why Paul and Kathy Myles chose Looe
Foam Cottage is very central and on the level. It is a rare property in this location as it gets full sun on the back of the property at the rear in the quiet fishing quarter. The front of the property (soundproofed) faces the busy Higher Market Street, allowing the opportunity to enjoy the hubbub without the noise. One minute from the beach, one minute from harbour and two minutes from all the shops restaurants and banks, all that Looe has to offer. There is a train station to Looe, we often get the train down from East Sussex, it is a 7 minute walk to Foam Cottage. Free parking is available over on Hannafore Point, a pleasant scenic twenty minute walk around the harbour, or paid for parking at the MillPool car park over the bridge. We have had family holidays in and around Looe for over 50 years now, we are joined with by our grandchildren now! There really is enough in Looe without going elsewhere, but it is also near all that Cornwall has to offer. Being so close to the main beach has district advantages, most people go back to their various lodgings at about 4.00 pm and the beach empties out. This is when we have our barbecues there and play cricket and routers on the beach, often on our own!
What makes this House unique
Foam Cottage has been completely renovated by us. We have been, and still are, in the accommodation business in Sussex and also used to own building companies. We have completely modernised this 19c property, some parts of it go back to the 16c. Each bedroom is served by an adjacent toilet and either a shower or bath, effectively making them both en suite. The kitchen is modern with a hob, oven and microwave, toaster and all utensils required to cook. We have not installed Wi FI and there was not the space for a washing machine or dishwasher.

A great place to stay
Well appointed in a very central location in Looe. Clean and tidy with all the home comforts you would expect.
The cottage was well heated and cosy for our New Year stay.
The owner was very helpful with information prior to the stay.
Thank you for your response and thanks for staying at Foam Cottage
This is a great property and well worth a stay. The house is clean, well equipped and fits five (four adults and a small child) very comfortably. Being in the very centre of town and close to the beach, the location is also excellent - albeit a little noisy in the evenings. The noise comes from the rather interesting pub opposite, which even my wife's 70 year-old parents found truly entertaining, so it's not such a bad thing. I couldn't recommend the property more highly, and its owners as well, who proved to be both kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would like to add that while we stayed in the property, a one-star review of the property was posted by someone who called themselves "Warren" - this is a completely bogus review and the property could only be described as five star throughout.
Will definitely stay again.
The let was well kept, clean with everything that you need for your stay. A great central location with the beach, good food and pubs a few steps away. We really had a great stay and will definitely stay again.
Thanks Michael we are glad you enjoyed our home in Looe!
Great New Year Stay
First of all I would like to say that dealing Paul was a pleasure. Quick replies to emails and gave me lots of information on the cottage over the phone.
The cottage is perfect for a break at the seaside. Well stocked with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. It is very clean and very comfortable especially the double bed we used.
The location couldn't be better. It is about 100 yards to the beach and only a few yards to the nearest bar and restaurant. There are lots of bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk all of which I can personally recommend, in particular Smugglers Cott for a carvery and the Golden Guinea for the usual pub meals. If it's just a good old Cornish Pasty you're after then look no further than Sarah's Pasty Shop who will make pasties to order for you to take home with you.
All I can say is if you are looking for a clean and comfortable cottage in Looe close to everything then this is definitely the place for you.
Thank you Paul I will definitely return.
Thanks for you review John. It is very heartening when a visitor appreciates the place the same way we do, and for the same reasons!
A cosy little cottage in a cosy little village
We rented Foam Cottage in September and found it a great place to base ourselves for a week sightseeing around Cornwall. Paul and Kathy were incredibly welcoming and helpful; I was particularly impressed by the array of condiments they provided for our use as well. The town itself is absolutely gorgeous too and has a lovely little array of restaurants and fish & chip shops to choose from.
The only thing that was really missing for me was Wifi in the cottage, which would have been useful for international visitors/streaming movies but I have been told they intend to install Wifi soon. Its a 9min walk to the car park as well but to be fair parking is at a premium in these tiny little fishing villages so not really surprising.
Would definitely stay again if I'm visiting Cornwall. 9/10!
Thank you for this, our first review! We have installed wifi now. Parking, as you say is near impossible in this old fishing quarter, we park for free at Hannafore Point or at reasonable cost at the Millpool car park.
