Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Soldotna - "COTTAGE ON PRIVATE LAKE"

NON-COMMERCIAL PRIVATE RETREAT. ALASKA STATE LICENSED.

This is a beautiful cottage that sleeps two on a private lake just 10 minutes from town. The facility is on a private residence, non-commercial environment. Quiet, safe, secure and looks out at 2.5 million acres of prime Alaskan wilderness. Only two other residences on lake. Just 50-feet to the waters edge! Full kitchen, private bathroom, natural gas. Has stainless double door refrigerator, HD flatscreen TV, free WIFI. New gas barbecue on social deck to cook your freshly caught salmon from the Kenai River which is just 10 minutes away! This is a stand-alone facility with wonderful & private bathroom and shower.

There are about 8-steps up to the loft where the queen-sized bed is and if you have trouble getting up steps (or are over 250 pounds), this may not be for you.The stairs are rather steep. The bathroom is downstairs so at night you do have to go down the steps to use it. The view is magnificent out the front 4'x6' window, all wilderness to see, no houses. So quiet at night you can hear a pin drop. It is our most sought-after facility so if you desire to reserve it, we suggest you do this WAY IN ADVANCE. Each year it does get booked 100%. It is very private and sits by itself. The dimensions of it are: 16'x12' living room/kitchen and private bathroom is about 8'x7' in size. We supply clean bath towels, wash clothes, soap etc.

Suitability:

THIS PROPERTY IS VERY PRIVATE AND NON-COMMERCIAL SO YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCING WHAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS AT LODGES. ITS QUIET, SERENE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY. WE ARE A GREEN COMPANY AND CARE ABOUT OUR ENVIRONMENT. If we weren't small, then we would be big and we're not so sure that would be a good thing….

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoyed our away from it all stay in Soldonta.

The cozy little cabin was very clean and met all of our needs. One evening we just sat and watched a pair of swans on the lake. Jim and Lisa supply a nice pair of binoculars to scan the lake with. There wasn't any noise except for the occasional small Cessna planes that were coming back from a days adventure. Jim was very hospitable and fun to visit with. We would return again.

Jim and Lisa were responsive and gracious hosts. The property is one with nature and the accommodations are hand-built by Jim. We had a great stay here. If you truly enjoy the beauty that Alaska has to offer, this is your place.

Quiet location with a great view.

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough about our recent stay with Jim and Lisa Oltersdorf. We were greeted by Jim who gave us a tour of the property. He also gave us some insight on the area, things to do. where to eat, etc. He also suggested we be awake and on the porch at sunrise. I am glad we listened. We were able to watch the most beautiful sunrise you could imagine. Later in the morning while drinking my coffee and watching the ducks on the pond I was treated to a visit from a cow moose and her two calves.

Jim and Lisa have a wonderful, secluded property that isn't too far from town. The cottage was very well furnished and had all of the comforts of home. It was definitely better than staying at a hotel. I would highly recommend anyone looking to visit Soldotna to consider staying here.

Wonderful loft cabin with lake views. Perfect location for a fishing trip on the Kenai peninsula. Very peaceful, quiet location. Bed was very comfortable. Jim the owner was fun to talk to. My husband and I were very well taken care of the week we stayed. Would highly recommend to family and friends. Thank you Jim for taking such good care of us.
