About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom On Lake George

Here is a quiet cottage that sleeps four nestled in the woods on tranquil, beautiful Lake George, a small lake situated between Arbutus Lake and Spider Lake. It is only 12 miles SE from downtown Traverse City, 9 miles from the airport. Access to the cottage is off a paved road. If you are looking for a place to rest and relax, this is it.

While Lake George is a non-wake, trolling motor only lake with no public access, both Spider and Arbutus Lakes offer public boat launches for anyone with a boat and trailer. Also, it is just 8 miles to a boat launch on East Bay part of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. For those who like hiking, several trails are nearby as well as being located near the Vasa Trail used in both winter and summer for biking and skiing. And kayaking, canoeing and tubing are possible on the Boardman River only 3 miles away. If you visit in the winter, snow mobile trails are within two miles as well as wonderful cross country or snowshoeing trails.

The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom. There is a queen size bed in one room and a double bed in the second bedroom. Enjoy a meal on the deck overlooking the lake. At night use the fire pit for roasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs. The cottage is furnished with linens, blankets, dishes, coffee pot, toaster and cookware. There is a stove, refrigerator and it is air conditioned. Bring your camera as you may enjoy deer, raccoon's, squirrels and birds.

Located with permanent residences nearby, there are quiet hours after 10:00 pm. There is a hill down to the cottage and steps down to the lake where there is a dock. No fireworks are allowed.

Why Susan Burke chose Northern Michigan

This was our family cottage for years. It was remodeled completely in 2006 by my father. And more remodeling was done in 2014 after I purchased the cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

I have always loved the setting of Lake George. It is a quiet lake, no motor boats or jet skis. The fishing has been good for bass and blue gill with some perch. This is the type of lake to kick back and relax.

What a charmer!

  • 5 of 5

The house was tidy and well equipped! The beds were comfy, too :) It's a great location for visiting wine country, AND Traverse City! We loved our drive up to the Mission Point Lighthouse, stopping at the Chateau Chantel on our way. We also recommend the food truck court in Traverse City on Front Street! Very unique food choices as well as a friendly vibe.

Perfect Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time! The cottage is the perfect size for 4 and came with all that we needed including games for our game night. Beautiful view of the lake and a great amount of privacy from neighbors. Also, tucked away in the woods. Very peaceful! Boats, bonfire, you name it. Also, not very far from town, local eateries, wineries, and convenient stores. We would definitely stay here again.

Restful time at Cottage by George

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time at Lake George. The cottage was cozy and immaculate and the lake was quiet and serene. Perfect for paddling around in the kayak. Traverse City was just as I remembered it but with more great restaurants.

Restful Cottage For 4 On Lake George Says it All!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have stayed in many a "so called" cottage - lake home or get away... only to want to be the ones getting away as fast as we could!! You take a chance renting what you hope will be the ultimate vacation spot for that short time in a year when all you want is some peace and quiet away from the real world. That is exactly what we found with this beautiful little cottage. Nestled under huge pines on the banks of Lake George we found a quiet place to relax, paddle boat - fish and just enjoy each other's company. It's quiet all around as the neighboring homes are far enough away that you don't really even notice them, yet all were as friendly to us as could be in each chance meeting. The cottage itself was freshly painted and as clean as any place we have ever stayed. The amenities were perfect and the price very reasonable. I could not think of anything more I would ask for. Traverse City is a short drive away and plenty of shops to visit as well as local grocery stores for anything we could have desired. We truly enjoyed our stay, I would not doubt anyone else would feel the same way as we did - God Bless, John & Christy July 2017
