Michael grew up in Lake Megantic, spending most weekends and free time at the cottage. He knows the surrounding woods intimately and has a strong desire to preserve and share this heritage family property.
Michael and his wife Karen wish to offer a quintessential Canadian cottage experience in this very natural environment.
The property, including 400 acres and the private lake, has been in the family since the late 1800s. The surrounding forest is mostly sugar maple with magnificent white pine breaking through the canopy.
You come here for peace and quiet, and to enjoy the natural wonders.
The spectacular views from the cottage, the walking trial around the lake, the nearby Scotchcap Mountain trail.
We have fat native brook trout (we don't stock the lake) up to 18 inches which we protect by allowing fly-fishing exclusively.
Think fly-fishing is too difficult? Come for our introductory weekend courses, you'll come away with a passion for the sport which will last a lifetime.
Stayed at Trout Lake last week with 6 family members and friends. Everyone loved it there. Plenty of space to spread out and roam around for alone time, AND so much to do together! Great base to explore the area. Although it's not necessary to ever leave the cottage and property, if you are itching to get out for a day, Quebec is an easy drive , and Mont Megantic National Park is just around the corner! Michael and Karen were great hosts, with a wealth of information on the local area. We miss it, and their sweet dog Motley, already. Trout Lake comes highly recommended from everyone in our party!
