Kefali Villa is a great base for ecotourism based on the value of the place and the philosophy of its people, in modern facilities, which will offer you a unique experience and help you discover the natural advantages and beauty of the mountainous Rethymnon, through a wide variety of activities!

Kefali Villa is conveniently located just away from the enchanting beaches of South Rethymno. Plakias, Damnoni, Sxinaria, Rodakino, Triopertra, Agios Pavlos, Preveli, Agia Galini to name a few… the most famous and worth visiting beached of Rethymno are just 15-25’ minutes away by car.

The village is very peaceful and quiet and the locals are very welcoming! In Kefali Villa you can have a true taste of rural Crete and enjoy nature at its best! The location of the villa is just amazing… natural springs coming down from the nearby mountains, clear blue sky above your head, wild birds of prey passing by which you can see from the comfort of the pool! On top of that, the fresh and clean air will revitalise you and the quiet of the area will ensure your undisturbed night’s sleep, accompanied only by the song of the crickets and night birds!

Furthermore, for those seeking to experience the village countryside, the area is suitable for hiking, offering some beautiful routes, mountain biking, off-road driving and walks in the nature. Carob and oak trees, some of 100 years of age, can also be seen in the area, leaving you with awe about nature’s greatness! Finally, if you are looking for local tastes, in the area you will have the chance to buy traditional, handmade local cheese, milk and wine.


Outdoor Area

The outdoor areas of Kefali Villa cover 800m2 and will make you feel like you live within a dream! the Villa is surrounded by lush vegetation, trees and flowers and boasts amazing views of the surrounding area and hills, offering absolute privacy! This is the ideal place for you to enjoy a carefree holiday, away from the fuss of the busy cities and have a real contact with nature! Additionally, the Villa offers several private spots, ideal for those who enjoy naturism!

The private swimming pool of 35m2 and 1.5 meters deep, lying on the stone-paved terrace, invites you to indulge in hours of relaxation, sun bathing and slackness! To make things even better, right next to the pool, there’s a special compartment, featuring a four-seated jacuzzi (not heated)! Additionally, the pool area is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas, as well as with an extra relaxing area by the pool and a swinging chair. Furthermore, BBQ facilities and traditional oven are also available outdoors, under a shaded pergola! Try al fresco cooking and dining with your whole family, while your children have fun at the playground provided. Last but not least, you will find a bluetooth speaker available at the BBQ area, so as to listening to your favourite songs while enjoying your meals! Also, some children’s toys and a football table are also available for our young guests!


Kefali Villa consists of three independent residences, which are rent together as one, for big families and friends. The Villa can accommodate up to 14 guests in total.

Kefali Villa is also very baby friendly oriented, and the necessary equipment for a family travelling with a baby can provided upon request, including a baby cot, high chair and food processor. Also, in the exterior area there’s a playground for our young guests.

First Residence

The first house used to be an old warehouse, which dates back over 100 years. It is an area of 60 sq.m. and can accommodate 2 people in its double bedroom, making ideal for couples. The room is built on a rock which is visible on the floor and the walls, as well as on the open fireplace. The room is also equipped with a siting and a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen. For the kitchen table an old “volosyros” was used (a tool used in agriculture for crushing the wheat or barley in the threshing floor and it was pulled by a horse or an ox) and the area in general is decorated with various old objects used by the people of the village many years ago, for their daily needs, such as earthenware jars to store oil or vinegar, a sieve for flour, a “volista” for peas, a “thrinaki” for wheat, a shovel for baking bread, oil lamps etc. Finally, a bathroom with a hydro massage shower cabin can be found in this house.

Second Residence

The second residence is located just above the first one and it was built more recently, covering of 75 sq.m. and it can comfortably sleep up to 5 guests. Entering, you will find yourselves in an open-plan area, featuring the siting area with an open fireplace and the kitchen and dining table. At the back part of the house, two more bedrooms can be found, of which one has a double bed, while the other one has two single beds. One guest can sleep on the sofa in the living room. Finally, a marble, family bathroom with a bathtub is also available.

Third Residence

The third residence was an old stone olive press, which also dates back to more than 100 years. The space is rustically decorated and elements such as the two millstones that frame the dining area, an old loom and the stone fireplace, create a unique atmosphere. This area covers 100 m2 and can accommodate up to 7 people. On the ground floor there’s a twin bedroom (not air conditioned), as well as a bathroom with a bathtub and a washing machine. One more guest can sleep on the sofa in the living room. Following the round, iron staircase upwards, our guests reach the attic where two more bedrooms are located, one of them featuring a double bed, while the last one has two single beds. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower.

- The pool operates from April to October.

About Valia Kokkinou

My name is Valia Kokkinou and Ι am a property manager, graduate of Glion Hotel Management School. I feel very fortunate to have joined some of the worlds most luxurious hospitality brands, such as, Leading Hotels of the World and after many years of studies and traveling around the world, to return to my birthplace, the wonderful town of Rethymno.

I have recently created a brand new company, Think Villa, based in 97 Gerakari str, P.C.:74100, Rethymno, Crete, Greece, whose main concept focuses on an authentic form of tourism. Here, me and my colleagues offer a hearty welcoming to all those who wish to escape the city life and have a chance to live locally. Perfect recreation. I forgot about my job :-)

There were three families with kids that stayed in three villas in this location. This place is really in the middle of nowhere, but this is what makes it perfect! You can go to southern part (Agios Pavlos) and enjoy wilderness of the beaches there. You can go to Rethymno and enjoy citylife. Even Elafonisi is relatively close to this place.

Or you can just stai in villas, enjoy views of greatest mountains around, beautiful silence of the place, and great pool and barbecue grill :-).

Host are very helpful and welcome, cleaned the place regularly and fixed any minor issue we found.

It was a great time in Kefali village and we already greatly miss it! Thank you for our great time there!

P.S. Make sure you drive small cars when you get there. If you are not good with mechanic gearing - pay for the automat. Otherwise every trip back and forth to villa would be a challenge :-)

Wunderschöner Urlaub in einem liebevoll gestalteten Haus

Wir verbrachten eine schöne und erholsame Zeit in der bis ins Detail liebevoll gestalteten Kefali Villa. Traditionelles trifft auf Modernes und wir hatten neben den zwei Häusern, einen großzügigen Umgriff mit lauschigen Plätzchen, Esstischen, Grillplatz, Pool und Whirlpool zur Verfügung. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist sehr freundlich und herzlich und wir wurden großzügig mit Käse und Wein versorgt, ebenso mit Zitronen und Kirschen, die im Garten wachsen.

Wir haben unsere Ferien hier sehr genossen!

Traumhaftes Feriendomizil, tolle Ausstattung, wunderbarer Blick

Wir hatten mit 5 Erwachsenen und 5 Kindern einen rundum gelungenen 2-wöchigen Urlaub in der Kefali Villa. Das ganze Anwesen ist sehr großzügig und mit 3 getrennten Wohneinheiten perfekt für mehrere Familien, alles ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Die alten Gebäude sind mit viel Liebe zum Detail und zur Tradition sehr authentisch renoviert. Der Ausblick Richtung Tal und auf die gegenüberliegenden Berge ist wunderschön. Grill, Sommerküche, ausreichend Liegestühle, mehr als genügend Sitzgelegenheiten und -ecken. Wer etwas abseits vom Trubel und nicht unbedingt direkt am Meer sein möchte, ist hier genau richtig. In Atsipades selbst wohnen noch ca. 20 Einwohner, vom nächstgelegenen Dorf im Tal, Koxare, sind es noch ca. 2km Schotterweg bis hoch zur Villa. In 20-30 min ist man in Rethymnon bzw. im Süden in Plakias. Nach Spili sind es nur 10min, dort gibt es ausreichend Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und auch sehr schöne Tavernen. Obstkörbe, Wasser und Raki :-) warteten bereits in den Wohnungen auf uns. Spülmittel, Waschmittel, Toilettenpapier war alles da. Der Kontakt zu Valia von der Agentur war sehr herzlich und professionell. Der Vermieter war ebenfalls sehr sympathisch, hat uns zwischendurch Wein und Käse vorbeigebracht, die Nachbarin hat uns mit eigenen Tomaten und Zucchini versorgt. Obstbäume (Feigen, Zitronen, Birnen, Äpfel)sind auch auf dem Gelände. In den 14 Tagen wurden 2mal die Bettwäsche und die Handtücher gewechselt sowie sauber gemacht (inkl. Terrasse und Pool)! Wir waren vermutlich nicht das letzte Mal da!

Kefali Villa is located in Atsipades village a small, yet picturesque village very close to Plakias that is set towards the centre of a large bay enclosed within the arms of mountains. In the nearby village of Koxare, guests can find a canteen

Plakias is a popular tourist resort and can be found 20 minutes away from the villa by car. Originally a very small and quiet fishing village, it now offers a range of amenities. Plakias is renowned for it’s natural beauty, providing all the facilities that a visitor could wish for. Along the main road of the village there are several supermarkets, bakeries, ATM machines, post office, a doctor’s office, restaurants, tavernas, cafes and beach bars while on the beach there are tamarisk trees, water sports, beach volley courts, snack bars and other shops offer a very wide range of products, including local and traditional goods.

The beach is sandy and very well organised with sun beds, umbrellas, changing rooms, showers, etc. The rocks surrounding the beach are ideal for fishing and snorkelling, as well. The road along the beach is also ideal for walking or cycling.

Plakias makes a good starting point for walks along the coast to Souda, or up into the encircling hills to other villages such as Sellia or Mirthios, which boasts spectacular sea views out to sea. A good coastal motor track runs west beyond Plakias, leading to Souda, Rodakino, Frangokastello and Sfakia beaches. There are plenty of walks locally, and bolder walkers will enjoy the high green countryside beyond the coastal mountain range north of town. Mountain biking and cycle touring are other local attractions.
