About Ruth McCarty or Gladys Johnson

We are transplanted US and New Brunswick people who have fallen in love with Nova Scotia. We think you will love it as much as we do.

Ruth McCarty or Gladys Johnson purchased this farmhouse in 1999

Why Ruth McCarty or Gladys Johnson chose Annapolis Royal

It is a beautiful large 20 acres farm, built in l831. Lush orchard blooms in the spring. Luscious fruit in the summer.

You can walk to the back of the property and access the Trans Canada Trail. Across the road is the winding Annapolis River. The house is large and very comfortable but not "fussy". I would hope you would enjoy it as much as we do. The little farms surrounding it are just as lovely, one is a maple syrup farm, the other is an artist's home and gallery. Deer abound in the evening on the back lawn.

What makes this farmhouse unique

There is a Welcome Basket, plus 24 hour coffee, tea and cookies. Our aim is to do everything possible to make sure you have a pleasant relaxed stress free stay. Thank you for your interest in our home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our host was amazing. She helped us with so much information on the area. When we were there she was very gracious. Cookies, tea, coffee, and wonderful gourmet breakfast to order. The farm is just lovely, historical Acadian farm totally updated. Walking over the twenty acres, thru the orchard, past the old barn, the hoses on the next property watching us, the deer in the evening. We wished we had time to stay longer..but we'll be back..Thank you Tracy.

Amazing Unique Accomodation

  • 5 of 5

My husband, my mum and I stayed at Bumbleberry Farm on August 15th and 16th 2017.

As no one else had booked the 3rd room we had the entire place to ourselves. We loved the wonky original Victorian floors and tasteful restoration. 1831 is old for Canada and as a History teacher this was a perfect place for me. I am Canadian but my Husband is English, we live in England where there is so much history, but on the 150th anniversary of Conferation Summer it was so cool to stay in a preconfederation property. Location is so great, close to Port Royal and many other things, we want to come back and stay longer next time. BRILLIANT!
