About the property

The Old Coach House, Goodwood - an annexe that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Set within easy walking distance of Goodwood, The Old Coach House not only makes the perfect spot for events such as Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Festival of Speed, it is an ideal location for exploring the city of Chichester and the glorious countryside around. Goodwood Trundle and Halnaker Windmill are a couple of the favourite walks locally.

What was in years gone by a coach house to the famous Goodwood Estate, the property has been renovated to a high standard and now sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. Located in a very quiet lane you are most likely woken by birdsong or the occasional vintage Spitfire taking off from Goodwood's historic aerodrome.

Upon entering the cottage you enter the spacious living/dining room, which provides a characterful, cosy and comfortable space. It is ideal for relaxing after a long day exploring the countryside, the city of Chichester or the nearby West Wittering blue flag beach. Whatever the weather there is plenty to keep you entertained in and around The Old Coach House even in the cooler months. There is a 40" TV plus freeview recorder, DVD, Apple TV and DAB radio with iPhone dock, plus a selection of books to keep everyone entertained.

You will not be limited by what you can rustle up in the fully equipped kitchen with a hob, oven, microwave, kettle and toaster; ideal for making your favourite meal and cosying down for the night.

There is a lovely nautical-themed downstairs bunk bed room with plenty of hanging/storage space and a ground floor shower room with wc and wash basin. On the first floor you will find a good sized king-bedded room with plenty of seating and DAB radio/alarm. There is also a large cupboard for your clothes and belongings, hair dryer and full length mirror.

Outside there is a small private garden with a table and chairs exclusively for guest use. There is car parking on the quiet lane directly outside the property.

Location

Car: necessary

The Old Coach House is set in a small hamlet within easy walking distance of Goodwood and just 3 miles from the city of Chichester.

The Goodwood Estate is famed for its motor racing, historic aerodrome and horse racing events held throughout the year, including the GRRC Members Meeting, Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood. The Goodwood Estate also offers a full horse racing calendar from April to October, Goodwood Road Racing Club's Sunday Breakfast Club themed car exhibitions (May to November), a flying school & pleasure flights, an 18-hole pay-per-play golf course, driving experiences including on-track performance and off-road.

Within walking distance is Goodwood's Bar & Grill which is open all day for meals and is located together with Goodwood's leisure club and spa. The Waterbeach spa has numerous treatments available using luxurious products from Elemental Herbology and Elemis to help guests and visitors unwind. Day access is available to the leisure club with its fitness room, indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, either alone or in combination with spa days & packages.

The historic cathedral city of Chichester lies a few miles from The Old Coach House. The mostly pedestrianised city centre offers a wealth of shopping, cafes, restaurants and bars, all set within streets lined with interesting architectural buildings. The Chichester skyline is dominated by its medieval cathedral which dates back over 900 years.

A few hundred metres from the centre of the city is the famous Chichester Festival Theatre which is one of the UK's flagship theatres with an international reputation for producing work of the highest quality, ranging from large-scale musicals to distinguished dramas. There is also Pallant House Gallery which has won numerous awards and accolades including the Gulbenkian Prize, the largest prize for arts and cultural organisations in the country.

There are many great pubs in nearby towns and villages a short drive away, and 15 minutes drive brings you to the pretty, historic town of Midhurst. It is a small town with period properties from a variety of eras lining the main streets and a collection of eclectic shops and restaurants. Much of the town is still owned by the famous Cowdray Estate which hosts the polo season (April to September), attracting visitors from all over the world. The famous Cowdray Ruins lie on the northern outskirts of the town and there is a superb farm shop and coffee shop to enjoy.

The old market town of Petworth just 20 minutes drive, is home to Petworth House with its rich and varied history including the state rooms with internationally important paintings by artists such as Van Dyck, Reynolds, Titian and Blake together with classical and neo-classical sculptures. It was here JMW Turner spent long periods at the House and whose paintings of Petworth Park can be seen at Petworth today.

This area of West Sussex offers fabulous rolling countryside, ideal for exploring on foot or by bicycle. There are also some of the best beaches in the south, including the sandy blue flag beach at West Wittering.

A little further afield are the cities of Portsmouth to the west and Brighton to the east, both easily accessible by either road or rail. London is also within easy reach with a direct rail service from Chichester to London Victoria (90 minutes). The Old Coach House really is an ideal location for exploring this wonderful part of the country or for just a quiet retreat in the countryside.
