Come enjoy your stay at this spacious, comfortable home on a double lot — you have sweeping Mt. Baker and sunrise views, access to a private beach, and are in walking distance to the library, the Beach Store Cafe, the school playground, and the Islander Store. Big deck with an even bigger yard! The deck includes an outdoor grill and the yard includes a little playhouse for the kids.
The house has three bedrooms and one bathroom — including a steam room. The home offers an open kitchen, a large dining table, and a comfy living room with lots of wonderful light and windows. Relax by the gas fireplace, chrome-cast movies on the large-screen TV, check out the toys, games, and books....
Or... step outside and down the stairs, where you will find a hidden, rocky beach with tide pools full of little creatures. The beach is accessible at both low and high tides, is clean and fresh, and is a wonderful place to relax, watch the ferry, and take in the sky and mountains.

Our parents bought this home in 1994 as a place to retire, after living thirty-plus years in Southeast Alaska. The three of us kids — Nicolle, Stacy, and Ralph — were all born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. Two of us have been living in the Seattle area for over twenty years with the other in the Bay Area.
When my parents decided to stay in Arizona full-time, they wanted us to have the house, as a legacy for their children and grandchildren. We have loved being part of the Lummi Island life and want to share it with you!

Nice, relaxing stay. Kitchen was well stocked, even crab crackers for the crab we caught! Owner was super responsive with any and all questions. Were bummed to hit a whole 6 days of never getting more than one peek a boo glimpse of part of Baker. Will have to return on a sunny day. Thought being in a 'neighborhood' might be imposing, but the house is very private, sitting off the road just enough.
The home was beautiful and incredibly comfortable. During our week-long stay, our family did little else other than take in the sound, watch nature, and relax in our surroundings!
The kitchen was so well appointed and we enjoyed cooking delicious meals and eating them on the beautiful patio; we also enjoyed using the grill. We all slept well in comfortable beds and had everything we could have needed!
Our son enjoyed climbing on the beach during low tide and exploring. During our stay we saw seals, otters, bald eagles, more herons than we could count, and a mama deer with her two fawns joined us in the yard.
We couldn't have had a more lovely vacation.
Some friends from Australia and New Zealand were coming to visit and asked if we could have a few quiet days away (they had had a busy few weeks of touring and teaching).
Stacy's place was wonderful! The unpretentious comfort and spaciousness of her home, the views (it was very clear and Mt. Baker was glorious- and the moon was full), the soft mossy lawn, the quiet, enabled us all to breathe out, relax, and enjoy the island and each other's company. And the figs were ripe too. We and the birds shared them.
This is the second time I've been to Stacy's and to Lummi, and if you're looking for a beautiful, quiet space, I highly recommend it!
Overall our recent stay at this property was okay. Sitting in the large yard overlooking the water with Mt. Baker in the background allowed us to let all stress and worries melt away. The house has every household item you could think of and is in walking distance to the general store, the ferry and a restaurant. Additionally, the property owners were very receptive and pleasant.
That said, there are some deficiencies that should be addressed.
1. The house has a nonenal smell and most of the windows in the house do not open. To get fresh air the patio door and the front door has to be left open.
2. The closets in the master bedroom and the third bedroom have mirrored closets that are sealed to the renter and that only the property owner can open. That is pretty creepy to say the least.
3. The grill is very old and needs replacement.
4. While there is beach access, the area is filled with lumps of seaweed and other debris.
Not a bad place to stay, but the property needs a little work.
We stayed here in July of 2016, and had a great time. The house was comfortable and spacious, and the wall of windows afforded an excellent view of the water and the mountains beyond. And while it's generally true that you should bring your own groceries, it turned out that there's a store within walking distance that had what we needed for restocking our supplies (eggs and milk, mostly). And, pro tip: a walk along the beach in the early afternoon on a hot day is ideal: there's a nice breeze from the ocean, and a cliff along the water that provides plenty of shade.
You true test of a place like this, though, is in how responsive the owners are in response to something going wrong. Happily, when it turned out the wi-fi wasn't working properly, we were able to get in touch with the siblings who own the place and I was soon going through some problem-solving steps with one of them. While it turned out that the modem itself wasn't working properly, we managed to find a workaround that successfully solved the problem. So, I can happily recommend the place overall: a great location, and responsive owners.
Lummi Island is located near Bellingham, in northern Washington. The ferry dock is about a two-hour drive north of Seattle and a 1½ hour drive south of Vancouver, BC. The ferry leaves every hour and it is a ten-minute crossing.
Lummi Island's population is 800 people, and it has a small store, two cafes, a fancy restaurant, a couple of wineries, a small farmer's market, a few hikes and public beaches, and an artist tour every Memorial Day and Labor Day.
The house has everything you'll need, but you will want to bring all your groceries and shop before you get to the island. Also, you may want to bring bikes!
If you want to do any off-island outings, such as whale watching or hiking Mt. Baker Preserve, let us know, and we can help with that! But we suggest you stay put and relax. Lummi is the perfect getaway — a quiet place to enjoy the view, beach, and the people.
