My family loved this property! The cabin was beautiful, spacious & well kept. Amazing view of the lake & the deer were in the backyard daily. We are looking forward to staying at this camp again & again.

A Perfect Adirondack Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful home with 7 of my family members. The home is beautiful both inside and outside and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Perfect for multigenerational families spanning seniors to young children. Located right on the water, we kayaked every night and also enjoyed the family of ducks that visited daily. Very close to Old Forge restaurants and shopping. A wonderful and peaceful home.

Fantastic family vacation on 1st Lake

  • 5 of 5

It was a perfect vacation spot with a wonderful view and easy access to Old Forge. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking equipment we needed for our week in the ADK. The bedroom and bathrooms were clean and comfortable . We enjoyed the canoes and kayaks.

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do this camp justice! It is the nicest most beautiful cabin I have ever seen. It was spacious and extremely clean! The kitchen was stocked which made preparing meals very easy and convenient. We went with our family, adults and kids included. The kids loved swimming in the lake, out to the sandbar. We went kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, and we also went to the water park that is right up the street. We had camp fires every night while star gazing. The view of the lake is absolutely gorgeous! There are restaurants right in town (which is a few minutes up the road). We will most definitely be visiting again! Even after being there for a week, we did not want to leave! The owners of the cabin are extremely nice; I would most definitely recommend this cabin to others.

Nice house, Old Forge is a great small town!

  • 3 of 5

Nice house, great location, the lake is beautiful. Old Forge is a fun, great town for families. Lots of unique non-chain restaurants, shops and a one of a kind movie theater. We spent a day at the water park, took a ski lift trip to the top of the mountain for views of the ADKs, and a boat tour of the Fulton Chain. All activities were a 5-10 minute drive from the house. House was a great size for an extended family vacation. We enjoyed the fire pit, canoes and kayaks, spacious deck, shallow water for swimming (even though bottom is a little mucky), and fishing. The house was clean and thoughtfully designed with many rustic details, but we had a few complaints. There were lots of personal items in the house, including clothes in the closets, drawers, food in the pantry and refrigerator, which made it hard to unpack our own stuff. Also the house has no trash pick up and no place to store trash. You have to take your trash and recyclables across town to a citywide garbage drop off site. The last day we left before the drop off site was opened since we had an all day drive and we were charged by owner for trash that we left. We saw garbage trucks in the neighborhood so pick up is available. Very few instructions were left for check out and owner also informed us we left toothpaste on bathroom sink. Make sure you clean thoroughly before you leave.

Owner's Response: Condiments, spices etc. are left at the camp for our quest. Some articles of clothing are also left at the camp so when I am there I can do whatever work is necessary. Taking the trash to the transfer station (less than 10 min. ride) keeps the wildlife safe and prevents trash from being spread all over the Adirondack Park by the animals that get into the trash. And yes, the camp is expected to be left as it was found.

Everything we needed

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 5 adults, 5 children and our dog had a wonderful stay! There was plenty of room for everyone indoors and out, with spacious bedrooms and roomy shared spaces. We loved using the canoes and kayaks and appreciated that there were life jackets of different sizes. The decorations, including family photos, made us feel like we were staying with friends and added to the warm, comfortable atmosphere. The location is conveniently close to town yet private and quiet. Thom, the owner, was very responsive and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We would definitely stay here again!
