About the property

Beautiful rural home with gardens and unspoilt views across miles of countryside

On a clear day, you can see for many miles across the Evenlode valley with scarcely any other buildings visible. This is a cherished home, held by our family for decades, and it has a cozy and authentic Cotswold feel, with thick walls of Cotswold limestone, a wood-burning stove and plenty of wood supplies available for guests. It feels amazingly secluded but in truth you are just a 20 minute walk (five minute drive) from Charlbury railway station, with direct links to Oxford and London. Blenheim Palace is just 15 minutes drive away, and in the summer there are a number of events and festivals (Wilderness and Cornbury) in the vicinity. We offer all the modern amenities from washing machine, fridge and freezer, microwave, dryer and dishwasher to tv, video and wifi. Most phone networks also get a decent signal here.

We're 80 yards from the nearest house, along a quiet rural lane, providing total tranquility. All of the glorious walks and attractions of the Cotswolds are on our doorstep.

Why Owners Website: chose Chipping Norton

The cottage was bought by Ed's academic parents and he's been coming here since he was a baby. It's a magical place and a perfect, peaceful escape from the city.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is arranged over three floors (covering a little over 2000 square feet) with four bedrooms, a living and a dining area, a kitchen, a bathroom and a cellar. There are two outside gardens and a patio. A barbecue is available if needed plus additional chairs for outside seating. The privately owned field beyond frequently has grazing livestock, so off-limits I'm afraid, but there are all kinds of great walks, pubs, restaurants and stately homes to be explored in the vicinity.

Pets are welcome (up to two dogs) but we will charge an additional £20 for cleaning afterwards (sorry, bad experiences in the past!) and we do expect you to let us know in advance if you are bringing pets.

A true feeling of home

A wonderful recluse from everyday's worries. We had a fantastic time and the children were happy and relaxed. They even found two toads in the nearby fields. Beautiful walks and

an amazing countryside. The house itself is a classic rural dwelling, with thick walls and low ceilings. I think it is frequently used by its owners because of the many books we saw there and the availability of every conceivable day to day items we needed. It really felt like home to us.

The only problem that other visitors may have is that there is only one toilet in the house. However, it didn't bother us much albeit being 4 adults and 3 children plus a very young baby who didn't need to go to the loo. Never have we felt that it constrained any of us in any way even though we kept on joking about it...

We have already agreed to come back to the same house next year if it is available.

The cottage is well equipped with beautiful views across fields.

We had a great long week-end with our family at the cottage. Our stay was comfortable and cosy. The cottage is located in a very quiet spot with the opportunity to do some walks. Beautiful Cotswolds villages are within a short drive.

We would certainly recommend staying at this cottage either for a long week-end or for a longer period.
