Amazing modern renovation of a Santa Fe classic adobe home -- with quiet courtyard for intimate relaxing or dining. Old growth cottonwood trees, weeping willows, lilac, wisteria, and a pristine green lawn irrigated by Acequia Madre (Mother Ditch), which runs in front of the exterior wall of the house. The home's interior is filled with the soul of an adobe built over 100 years ago with plaster walls and vigas (support beams in the ceiling) throughout the house. While this casa has the patina of an old indigenous place, it is furnished with modern furniture and accessories throughout. The best of both worlds! An amazing location, it is situated on a quiet tree-lined one-way street which is seconds from Canyon Road and minutes from Santa Fe's downtown plaza. It doesn't get more authentic or charming than this.
This place is a sparkling, peaceful oasis...with just the right combination of amenities. Quiet and charming. A very restful place to recharge.
Owner, Larry, is very friendly and solicitous. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Everything is walkable from this home located right off the top of Canyon Road. The home is clean and quiet and the yard is lovely. The home is well stocked. Larry, the owner, could not be any nicer. We gave it four stars instead of five for the sole reason that the mattress in the front bedroom is really not comfortable. Beyond that, we loved everything about this place and would love to stay here again!
My friend and I loved this charming adobe house on quiet and beautiful Acequia Madre, just around the corner from Canyon Road. The interior was classic yet modern with super comfy bedrooms (one with a non-working Kiva fireplace) and a large modern bathroom with a double sink. Was a little surprised not to have a full kitchen but in the end it didn't really matter. Large, private outdoor space was a big plus as was the resident cat "Boots." Owner was helpful and not around much which gave us even more privacy. Location was perfect - within walking distance to both the center of town and Museum Hill and easy access to out of town drives. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Our first VRBO was a great experience. The listing was accurate as to what we found. The property was clean and generally well maintained. The owner communicated adequately and often. Not only would we stay here again, but would recommend the property to our friends and family. The owner even provided a nice write-up of local restaurants and attractions for consideration. Located off of the beaten path, but close to the historic center of Santa Fe, we walked in an easy 30-minute stroll. Just enjoyable. Simply Santa Fe.
This adobe getaway is nestled among tall trees, narrow streets, and a neighborhood filled with small adobe homes that look straight out of a western mountain storybook. As quaint as the setting is, the interior describes comfort with spacious, warmly decorated bedrooms and a nicely remodeled bathroom. Our party of three were there for three nights, and despite our unconventional arrival and departure times, Larry was absolutely understanding. "Accommodation" could be Larry's middle name. As for location, it can't be beat. The walk to the town square should take about 20 to 25 minutes, but with all the amazing art galleries and sculpture gardens along the way, expect to take at least twice that long. It's slightly downhill into town, so it may be a little bit challenging for those with mobility issues for walking that distance, especially considering the 7200 foot elevation above sea level, but I would still recommend the walk if you are healthy (I'm 62 and had no trouble at all). There is plenty of parking for your car, of course, in Larry's courtyard behind a motorized gate should you wish to drive all around the Santa Fe area. It's a wonderland. Larry has a very lovable dog that hasn't quite learned all the nuances about playing catch, but the dog is so precious, it doesn't matter. Another thing about the neighborhood is that it's among the most quiet places I've ever been. The roads are so narrow and winding, it's impossible to race around, and most people seem to walk anyway. I'd highly recommend this home away from home. If I find myself back in Santa Fe, I'll check for availability of this delight before making other arrangements.
I recently took my three daughters for a little vacation in Santa Fe. We rented Larry's wonderful house and absolutely loved it! The house is comfy and welcoming, as well as darling and tastefully decorated. The location is perfect for getting to the Canyon Road galleries or even walking to town. We were able to walk to restaurants, a park, a school playground, shops and of course lots of galleries on our way into the town square. Larry was a wonderful host with plenty of tips on where to go and gave great directions. We will definitely rent from him again!
