Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. My Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages range from one bedroom to 4 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 10 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like towels, linens and cooking supplies.
The Yellow Cottage is within steps of the river, and has a unique feel to it. The layout is spacious for it's size and easily accommodates guests. It is perfect for couples but can sleep up to 4.
Included in your stay is a gas grill with propane, a canoe with all necessary paddles and life vests and WiFi. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. A fishing boat w/motor and kayaks are available to you on site for a discounted rate. Mooring your own boat is a possibility, contact me for details.
The Autrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing as well as simple relaxation as it winds 7 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful Autrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.
Pictured Rocks Cruise is only 12 miles away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you when you are and give you advice about the area and things you will enjoy during your vacation.
I am a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exploring our area, I am an avid outdoors-man, I camp, hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, ATV, motorcycle, snowmobile and Jeep nearly the entire U.P. and if you have heard of it, chances are I've been there, or done that. I also know some places 'off the radar' if you are looking to get away from the tourist areas. Just ask, I'll be happy to give you advice.
Cory Cole purchased this cottage in 2009
I was a transplant to this area during high school years ago and left then came back. I couldn't stay away forever, this area is unlike any other. Sure there are beautiful places all over the country, but no matter where you are from, this place is special beyond words... This cottage is part of a private association with it's own river frontage. The property is the best on the river, it has a beautiful view, clean water with sandy bottom and plenty of space to relax. There are 10 cottages on this property (it was an old resort) I own/manage 7 of them for vacation rentals. I purchased these cottages with the intention of providing people a great place to stay, and the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful area. Overall, if someone doesn't enjoy staying here, it would be a first.
It is within minutes of Lake Superior, one of the best beaches in all of Michigan, the Pictured Rocks, dozens of waterfalls, hundreds of miles of hiking trails, biking trails and ATV/snowmobiling trails. AuTrain lake is accessible by boat right from the cottages and has tons of opportunities.
Cabin is small but usable. Bed and couch have seen their better days. Window blinds need a good cleaning and/or replaced. Enjoyable site by the river. Evening camp fire with neighbors from Michigan and England made for a pleasant evening. It is in good area for enjoying the sights water falls, pictured rocks, and Munising.
It is in a great area, close to hiking it's right on the river. It's not fancy but works well for what we wanted.everything that we needed was there and it was very comfortable. Would go there again!
The cottage in which we stay was really nice. Just the right size for the two of us. And it was only a short drive to Munising, which was good
since we spent a lot of time there. But being from Lansing Michigan, we both enjoyed how peaceful it was there. Just so much to do in the area.
The kitchen area had everything that was needed to fix meals. We used the slow cooker a few times while visiting the water falls in the area.
Everything about the cottage and area were perfect. A memorable vacation!
This cabin was clean and adorable like a doll's house. The main room was open and airy with easy access to the kitchen and eating area. The sofa folded out into a bed large enough for our two children to sleep comfortably. Our eldest child had ample room on the floor to sleep on a blow-up mattress. The bedroom was small but comfortable, and who wants to spend time sleeping while on vacation anyway! The bathroom was also very clean and had a stock of necessary items. Our favorite part of the cabin was its front porch which overlooked the river and a small grassy area. We understand that the owner will be expanding the porch this fall and look forward to enjoying it in the future. One cool touch about the cabin was that the owner sets out a guest book. We read a number of the entries and gleened great ideas for things that we should see and do while in the area. Furthermore, the owner, Cory, was most accommodating and helpful. We will definitely rent with him in the future.
This was our first time staying in a cabin and we just loved it. The place had everything and little thing you may forget packing like aluminium foil, coffee powder, sandwich bags, containers , dish washing soap etc. We had a great vacation. Would love to do it again. Pictured rocks is a beautiful place and oyr stay here in cabin made it more memorable.
