Petworth is an historic market town best known as the location of Petworth House and deer park landscaped by Capability Brown. The town is full antique shops and tearooms with quaint houses and courtyards throughout. It is close to the town of Midhurst which is home to Cowdray Park the home of polo and the infamous Gold Cup. You can also visit the ruins of Cowdray House where you can explore the area where Kings and Queens of England once stood.
Petworth is only a short distance from the South Downs, and sits within the South Downs National Park. South of the Downs lies the cathedral city of Chichester, with all of the attractions you would expect from the county town of West Sussex. There is a good range of restaurants and cafes to choose from, and for the culturally inclined there is Pallant House Gallery, The Chichester Festival Theatre and a multi screen cinema.
