Set in the conservation village of Chelmorton, 6 miles from Buxton and 8 miles from Bakewell, there are walks from the door and beautiful countryside to explore in every direction, plus a traditional village pub (which welcomes dogs) serving good food. The historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are easy to reach as is the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. There are superb traffic-free cycle trails nearby, along former railway lines. In the summer lots of festivals and events take place - including the fabulous Eroica Britannia vintage cycle festival in June, Chatsworth Horse Trials in May, RHS Chatsworth Flower show in June, the Country Fair in September and well dressings from May to September. Bakewell Farmers Market (8miles) is the last Saturday of every month and is the second largest in the country.
