Beautiful, tranquil, Orgiva retreat with large private pool, Las Alpujarras,

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,690 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 2 - 6

This is a truly exceptional, beautiful, spacious property overlooking a river near Orgiva in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in the Las Alpujarras region of southern Spain. It sits in splendid isolation, very private and secluded. Space flows through the house and is rarely obstructed by doors. Languishing in its mountain setting is a wonderful large private pool. If you are looking to 'get away from it all' yet retain creature comforts you will love this house.

The house is set on 4 acres of land amongst olive, fig, pomegranate and palm trees. The only sound is that of running water and occasional birdsong. The air is scented with aromatic herbs and at night a million stars are cast in a swathe overhead. Here you are in direct heartfelt contact with nature, yet the house is only 15 min. from the lively town of Orgiva, 45 min. from the sea and 1hr from the bustling city of Granada.

Footnote: Words and pictures cannot do justice to the experience of spending time here. It is simply magical. The beauty of the house and the tranquillity of the earthly paradise that surrounds it are exceptional.

There is a table and chairs in the courtyard for dining alfresco (most meals!). The house is unsuitable for young children as there are sheer drops to the river below (these are some distance from the actively used areas and are easily avoided by adults). The pool is large 4.5M x 11.5M and 1.2M - 2.5M deep and is open May to September inclusive. There is a terrace and pleasant arched shaded pavilion overlooking it.

Family August 2009

We had a superb holiday...our 3 teenage kids thought the pool was stunning whilst my wife and I were delighted by the house and especially it's setting.

The descriptions just do not do justice to such a special place. It is secluded but Orgiva is easily accessed and had some good restaurants, especially the pizzeria with its lemon grove setting for outdoor eating. That said we made good use of the well equip kitchen and ate on the lovely terrace all the more special when the water runs under it.

We saw lots of wildlife, especially deer coming to drink from the river below and some wonderful birds. Being able to pick and eat figs from the tree by the pool was wonderful.

Thanks for a great holiday

Wonderful villa, stunning location

  • 5 of 5

This is certainly a very tranquil spot just a short drive out of Orgiva, nestled in the hillside with views across the river to the mountains. The pretty and well-maintained property itself was perfect for us and even though there wasn't any air-conditioning it felt cool enough in the evenings with all the fans on and the stream running through the premises provided enough natural air conditioning. The villa has plenty of terraces and is large enough to find your own quiet space if needed but most of our time there we spent around the wonderful pool which also has amazing views out to the mountains. The kids would have been happy to be in the big pool all day long every day if they could have. The location is perfect for hiking and beach trips alike and Granada is just a short drive away. Don't miss out on the nearby three stunning villages: Capileira, Bubion and Pamapaeira, Capileira being our favourite and a visit to the La Tapa restaurant is a must!

The owner of the property was very informative and provided us with detailed and highly useful information before our trip and I would highly recommend anyone wanting to explore this area to book his villa.

A beautiful house in a divine location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two weeks during Summer 2016. From the photos, description, reviews, and the marvellous help & advice from the owner throughout booking & prior to travelling, our expectations were that it was going to be excellent. However, when we arrived we were taken aback by how much more wonderful the property and it's location was. The view from all the balconies and the pool is nothing more than stunning. You feel you have the Alpujarras all to yourself. There is a spectacular view over the river and dam looking directly up the valley where the two rivers meet - and even in the hottest days, there is still a good stream of water running through. Next to the house is an acequia, part of an ancient system of irrigation channels to carry water from the mountains to the valley farms. Each Thursday through to Sunday we enjoyed the sight & sound of the water rushing through.

Inside, the house is spacious and cool, and makes for a great retreat from the midday heat. It's very clean, well maintained and has everything you could possibly need. Very well equipped kitchen and space to cook.

The pool is large, perfect for kids who are good swimmers (and us grown ups too!). Great for a morning swim, and in the afternoon gains some shade at the shallow end.

With the the town of Orgiva nearby, and a wealth of things to do in the area, we had a fantastic fortnight. It's a heavenly place to be - I can't highly recommend it enough.

Well-equipped with stunning scenery

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful pool big and deep enough for a swim with plenty of space to lounge gazing at beautiful scenery and surrounded by fig, olive and pomegranate trees. Spacious, well-equipped and furnished villa on two levels with a choice of outside seating areas. Easy drive to local town, Orgiva, for shops, supermarket and choice of restaurants. Would definitely recommend La Almazara where we sat under orange trees celebrating a birthday. Less than an hour to Granada for The Alhambra and Nasrid Palaces, and routes into the Sierra Nevada. Lots of scope for those who enjoy walking - we walked along the dry riverbed we could see from the villa. A wonderful place to have lazy days or explore the local area.

The owner had provided copious amounts of useful information beforehand and checked that we were ok when we were there. Would definitely recommend it for a family with older children or a group of friends for a get-away-from-it-all holiday.

Fantastic villa in a superb location

  • 5 of 5

This is a well equipped and delightful property. The layout is interesting and unusual with different places to sit for meals or to play games.....and other balconies and seats for reading and solitutude. A superb location - well worth the short drive from the centre of Orgiva - with views of the mountains and valley which ever way you look. The swimming pool was superb - we couldn't keep the kids out. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful house in a remote location

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house, which felt much more like someone's home than a rental property. The location was remote and mountainous so it is a great place to get away from it all in a comfortable and stylish villa.

The pool is fantastic, with great views, so it is easy to spend much of the day there. Alternatively you can spend some time on one of the many balconies enjoying the surrounding countryside.

We had no problems at all and the villa exceeded all our expectations!

Car: necessary

The house is situated on the southern foothills of the snow capped Sierra Nevada, approximately halfway between Granada to the north and the beaches of the Costa Tropica to the south. It is near the lively market town of Orgiva with its banks, bars, supermarkets, restaurants and internet cafes. The property is just 6km from the town and feels very remote without actually being so.

The area is easily accessed by hire car from either Granada or Malaga Airports.
