A pleasure, again

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this enchanting little cottage and as before it was cosy, comfortable and welcoming.

We had planned on several trips out to various other locations but as it was we stayed mostly in Staithes and just did some local walks. The village itself is totally charming and there is always something new to see or another little pathway to discover , so that's what we did.

We very much enjoyed some lovely meals at the Cod & Lobster pub but also catered for ourselves with some delicious meat and pies from the local butcher.

We will definitely return for another visit and we would also recommend this cottage to anybody - it also benefits from being close to the parking space where you load and unload from which is a real bonus.

Lovely location and cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cosy cottage was well equipped and in the perfect location - close to the beach and the pub where the food was excellent.

It was the perfect base for walking part of the Cleveland Way and exploring the surrounding villages and moors.

At first sight the overall impression was promising and the cottage felt snug.

The upstairs was beautifully decorated, especially the childrens' room. The bathroom was in good order but having a shower was a challenge as you could not stand upright due to the sloping ceiling. The kitchen was clean and appeared well stocked but when we came to cook there was no chopping board or casserole dish with lid to cook the meals that we had brought. We were unable to get the washing machine to work and had we been able to an airer would have been useful to hang the washing on. We were asked to bring our own linen and towels but this only became apparent after we had paid the balance. It should have been made clear in the initial cottage description. We felt very cold at times as the space heaters were not adequate for the job. Although to be fair we did learn that the owners were trying to sort out this problem Having said all that we found the position excellent being so close to the beach and pub. It was good to find a butchers shop close by with good quality produce. A newly opened cheese shop in the High Street was a good find. parking the car was a bit confusing and it needs to be made clear that there are 2 carparks at the top of the hill and it is important to choose the right one. However we did enjoy our stay and having hired many cottages over the years we have learnt that nothing is perfect and the quirks of individual cottages make for good talking points.

Idilic surroundings. Extremely pretty village. Local business owners friendly and helpful. lovely

  • 5 of 5

Accommodation was warm and cosy. There was just the two of us and our little dog but the cottage also has a lovely children's bedroom too. The kitchen is well equipped and the sitting room is comfortable and very welcoming especially once the fire is alight.

The whole area is delightful with very pretty surroundings and lots of lovely walks. Walking across the harbour with our dog in the mornings started each day off perfectly. Quite a climb out of the village which is hard going for those not used to the landscape - we are from Norfolk! Super little shops and all the locals that we spoke to were warm, friendly and very helpful.

We are booked to stay again next June and we are also making plans with the rest of the family to spend Christmas 2019 in the area, all together. Cant wait.

Staithes is beautiful, as is the whole area, and we would recommend it to anyone.
