Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in Crosslake

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 9 Sleeps

If you are looking for the 'cabin experience', this classic Minnesota cabin won't disappoint. This property was just completely renovated in the fall of 2014 and is a brand new listing on the rental market as of late March 2015. Essentially this property is brand new inside and out. Done in a true cabin feel, it has a wonderful open floor plan on the main level that features a combined great room/kitchen/living room. This area features vaulted ceilings, a wonderful screen porch overlooking the lake and a real stone fireplace for those chilly nights; and all with panoramic views of beautiful O'brien Lake. The main level further features a lakeside master bedroom and bathroom complete with tile shower. The lower level features an additional bedroom, a second designated bunk room, and an additional informal bunk area along with a second bathroom which also includes a custom tile shower. In addition, the lower level features a built-in game/puzzle table along with a leather sectional couch and entertainment area for a rainy day or movie night! The lower level also features tremendous lake views and all interior spaces (main and lower level) flow seamlessly to a large lakeside firepit area just steps from the water for those true Minnesotan's! The rental comes complete with a pontoon boat (2014 Bennington), and of course a hammock in the yard for those lazy days. For those that need to stay connected, the cabin also includes Wi-Fi and two high definition TV's with DirecTV (including a lower level area that has a blue ray DVD player and surround sound). And don't worry, you won't be roughing it, the 2014 renovation was done in good taste so along with the granite counter tops, the wood plank floors, and the reclaimed details it also brought all new mechanical systems including air conditioning, new appliances, and a Culligan softened water system.

Situated 5 miles east of the town of Crosslake, crystal clear Lake O'Brien is spring fed with a water clarity of 24', the cleanest lake in the entire watershed district. The lake itself is surrounded by mature pines. There is approximately 5 miles of shoreline, of which about a quarter of the lake is undeveloped state owned property. During the summer, this recreational lake is perfect for fishing, skiing, wake boarding canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and all water based activities, including floating on an air mattress!! There is a sandbar where you can walk across the lake which is a favorite gathering spot for 'kids of all ages'!! It's location on a quiet tar township road make it perfect for a morning walk or bike ride. During the winter months the lake is perfect for ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and is a perfect base camp to access the endless miles of groomed snowmobile trails.

This property is perfect for a family, an extended family, or a couple families; we have a limit of 9 occupants. There are 2 Queen beds (1 per bedroom), 3 single beds (in the bunk areas) and a double bed (bottom bunk). We do keep our calendar updated and so if you are seeing availability then it's likely available. Upon reservation confirmation you'll receive a complete 'what to bring' list so you are prepared for your time up north. Feel free to inquire with any questions you may have and we’ll be prompt to reply! We pride ourselves on keeping our property and structures/equipment pristine and are certain we'll exceed your expectations in that regard. And further, since we also live on this lake, should any questions or problems arise we can respond quickly. In fact, your only disappointment will be when you have to leave!!

Quintessential Lake Cabin On Pristine Lake O'brien (Includes New Pontoon Boat)
average rating of 5.0 based on 23 reviews

We were taken back by the beauty of the cabin and scenery...

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we opened the door to the cabin we fell in love. From the music playing in the background to the big soft towels for the shower. The views out the windows were spectacular. The owners made check in a breeze and were very helpful during our stay. We had everything we needed from wood for the camp fire to spices, etc. Having the use of the pontoon was wonderful. I had many mornings on the screen porch having my coffee. We highly recommend the trail at Uppgaard Nature area it was so pretty. The area around the cabin was so quiet and peaceful. Cross lake was close by for groceries and good restaurants. Thank you Matt and Renea for a wonderful stay at your cabin! Renee and Craig

Our family loved the beautiful setting of this cabin amongst tall pines and a peaceful lake. Equally beautiful were the aesthetics of the cabin itself. Our boys enjoyed the large platform at the end of the dock where they could fish and hang out looking into the clear water for fish and turtles. Between that and the sandy beach...they spent all day being kids out there. Everything about this place is well thought out and makes having an incredible vacation effortless. Thank you for offering a special place like this to rent! It truly was a storybook fall getaway.

Total Relaxation and Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time renting through VRBO and I am extremely pleased with the experience. From the very beginning, the Balmers (owners) were so gracious, answering all questions and helping throughout the booking process and provided all necessary information regarding the cabin (what to bring, cabin amenities, directions, etc.) well in advance. The location and setting of the cabin couldn't be more perfect -- ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet and a vacation that's all about relaxing. The photos of the cabin on the VRBO listing are accurate -- what you see is what you get and it is beautiful! So comfortable and well appointed with nice furnishings and charmingly decorated with a "cabin chic" look. We greatly enjoyed the Sonos music system while cooking, eating and playing card games in the evenings. To have the pontoon included with the cabin was an incredible bonus and was used every day for fishing along with coffee/sunset cruises (when the weather cooperated!) We had a lot of fun at the fire pit -- which was perfectly located (trees blocked wind!) -- roasting hot dogs and marshmallows while relaxing in the comfortable adirondack chairs. I would highly recommend renting this cabin as you will not be disappointed. We are renting again for fishing opener in 2017 and hopefully many more times in the future! Sincere thanks to Matt and Renae on behalf of our group for such a great time!

If your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of "city life" this is the perfect place! So peaceful at night, no city lights nor traffic noise. The only thing we found lacking was "TIME", our week vacation just flew by. Very close to Crosslake and quite little town that offers the best pizza at "Rafferty's" followed with ice cream shakes from "Lake Country Crafts and Cones", of course we brought these back to the cabin and enjoyed them on the screen porch with the birds singing!

The Cabin has so much more atmosphere then the pictures can even begin to reflect! I really cannot think of anything negative to say, it's really a home-away-from-home!

Any questions we had, we would just message Renae or Matt and they would respond within minutes! Don't worry IF you still need your electronic's they have WiFi, LOL

Beautiful cabin & pontoon

  • 5 of 5

This is a great rental cabin. The cabin is clean and well maintained with comfortable furnishings. The pontoon is beautiful and was my favorite feature of this rental. The owners were great to work with - very responsive to questions, respond quickly, available if needed and easy to work with. Clean, quiet lake with nice sandbars. Convenient distance from Cross Lake. I would definitely recommend this cabin.
