This cabin is an awesome alternative to tent camping located on the beautiful and historic Bair Ranch in Glenwood Cabin. This one room Cabin offers guests and experience of Rocky Mountain camping with comfort and security. The cabins sit at the edge of a nice little pond spring fed pond. Rather than driving all day to a campsite and fighting to get your tent up, you can arrive at your cabin and set your gear inside, lay out your sleeping bag and enjoy a campfire.
These cabins are one room. There is a front porch where you can set your camp chair and take in a beautiful Colorado evening. In the cabin there is a full bed and a set of bunks. A mattress with fitted sheet is provided and the bunks have covered pads.
There is no bathroom but the bathouse is just a few yards away. In the bath house there are men's and women's showers and restroom facilities.
What an amazing property! We had the whole place to ourselves, probably because it was so chilly! Clean cabins that were perfect for 2 and a dog. 4 might be tight, but doable. There are sheep and horses on the property and lots of dogs, but they stay on the lower property away from the cabins. The drive up to the cabins is definitely a trek so 4 wheel drive is recommended, but as long as you know that going in, you'll be fine! Maybe better signs leading up to the cabin. There are bathroom facilities, but no running water or electricity when we were there. Super close to Hanging Lake as well as Glenwood Springs. I would love to bring a large group back here next summer!
The cabins are small but cute. We liked the front porch, as it was covered and had room enough for our camp table and chairs. There's not room inside the cabins for those. Our daughter met us there and the three of us had the entire area to ourselves which was amazing! The sky was clear and the night view was breathtaking. I like having the bathhouse where you can have running water and flushing toilets. We only had two issues... we read the map wrong and ended up taking the long, scary road (we didn't turn before the two red barns, so be careful!!). I hate heights, so I had my husband pull over and I ended up walking all the way to the bottom of the winding, bumpy road which was one lane dirt). If you go, be sure you watch the weather so the roads don't get muddy. A higher vehicle (my Mustang would have bottomed out in some places) would be better. It was muddy so my husbands 4x4 helped. The other problem we had was the access to the cabin from our vehicle! You can't park close and we had to tote all of our camping gear, firewood, food, etc. down a path and to the cabin. We're in our 60's and I have bad feet, so it wasn't fun. That being said, we want to arrange for both our grown children and their spouses and daughters to reserve three cabins next to each other next year and spend more than one night! It would have been better to stay 3 or 4 nights after toting all of our stuff to the cabin. We truly enjoyed our stay there after settling in!! Thank goodness there's an easier road in than the one we took, otherwise I would never go back! Now I can't wait until next summer! Denise in Delta, CO
It was a fun and secluded ranch with no electricity but a fire pit (better), a spectacular view, bbq area and was very dog friendly (the best). The cabins can easily sleep 4 but we only had 2 and our small dog and it was quite spacious, of course we were only inside the cabin to sleep. We enjoyed cards and chess while the sun set, the bugs were actually not too bad. If you're not a tent/sleep on the floor person, this place is ideal without breaking the bank. Thanks Jim and Autumn, we'll be back!
We really liked staying at the cabins. However the road was not well maintained and may have damaged our suspension.( I have a Dodge Journey) . The website says a car can make it, but I doubt anything smaller would have made it. When we met the gal to follow her up she ever changed vehicle( from a Ford F-150 to a ATV) I asked if we could rent those since we wanted to go site see and I did not want to ruin my vehicle she had attitude and told me no. We then asked for a key and she said they didn't have any.... Funny part is she got locked out of one already ( because there were locks in the inside). We talked to vaniel on the phone, she was extremely rude and had attitude with us (when asked to rent a ATV) I was not impressed!
Everyone was really helpful, especially when my phone stopped working. They were nice about how late we were! Everything was clean and pristine, and truly beautiful. I would say that having fast access to contact information of the people actually on site would help, but eventually I could contact the right people and went forward perfectly. Thanks guys for a great time!
My spouse and I took our 1 year old daughter on her first camping adventure and the cabin in Glenwood Springs was a perfect first outing! The owners were professional and worked with our schedule with the time we were intending on getting up to the cabin Friday evening. It was a beautiful sight to wake up to at 6:30am to the sun slowly creeping over the mountains covered in the changing trees. We will certainly be going back!
