Chindwin is located on the edge of Speightstown, to the North of the West Coast of Barbados. It is just a 10 minute walk from the closest beach and the centre of town. Staying at Chindwin you can experience a special and unique style of holiday as the villa is very much a part of a charming local community. The neighbours are welcoming and friendly and you will soon feel at home with your new Bajan friends.
During your stay you can enjoy visits from native Green Monkeys making their way across the garden to the town (or back again!) where they gather the fruit from local gardens on a daily basis. In the evening, you may be treated to your own personal firework display as fireflies parade their luminous talents in the dark – a dazzling show of lights not to be missed. The orchestra of the night is courtesy of the crickets and tiny tree frogs who will sing you to sleep. In the garden, there are humming birds, butterflies, dragonflies and much more, which means that nature is very much part of Chindwin’s appeal.
Inside there is an extensive master bedroom with a king-size bed and ensuite shower. The master bedroom has a fabulous balcony from which you can look across Speightstown to the open sea beyond. The villa has 3 more bedrooms which have queen size double beds and a delightful children’s ‘dormitory’ which can sleep either 2 adults or up to 6 children.
All bedrooms have air conditioning, and the flexible layout provides a perfect family holiday home for two, three or even four generations to holiday together.
On the ground floor, there is a roomy living, dining and fully equipped kitchen area which, combined with a 40′ x 10′ covered patio at the rear and separate TV/Playroom, means that even at maximum occupation, there is plenty of space for everyone.
With complimentary Wi-Fi, TV and DVD player, entertainment is always available.
There are mosquito screens on the windows.
Housekeeping is included weekly and extra can be arranged at an additional cost.
The large 24ft x 12ft swimming pool is 7ft deep and provides the perfect place to cool off, perhaps after a challenging game of table tennis on the table provided. We also include 2 kayaks (with car fittings) along with various surf boards, boogie boards and snorkelling equipment for your use and enjoyment during your stay.
Chindwin provides a unique, rural location on the edge of Barbados’ third largest town - Speightstown. Speightstown remains relatively unspoilt by tourism and offers a wonderful insight into ‘old’ Barbados. There you will find a wide choice of ‘eateries’ ranging from the locally famous ‘white vans’ offering fantastic value ‘street food’ through to the Fisherman’s Pub (where you will meet ‘Junior’, the boss!), Island Plates and Little Bristol Beach Bar (where you just HAVE to try the Shark Wrap). There is The Lobster Pot, Jumas and a little further north is the Yacht Club at Port St Charles Marina and the famous Fish Pot Restaurant.
We would love you to share the experience of being our guests at Chindwin, and we look forward to welcoming you.
