A stones throw from the dramatic Cheviot Hills and only 30mins drive from the famous Northumberland Heritage Coastline, Grange Cottages are perfectly placed for both coast and country.The historic towns of Rothbury, Alnwick, Alnmouth and Warkworth are all very close by and also the Cragside Estate,made famous by William Armstrong for being the first house in the world to be lit by hydro-electric power. All of Northumberlands fabulous Castles and The Holy Island of Lindisfarne are within easy striking distance and also the World Heritage site of Hadrians Wall. Whether you are Sightseers, Ramblers, Cyclists or just wanting to get away from it all, Grange Cottages give you the perfect base for a relaxing break any time of the year.

Number 1 Grange Cottages has recently had a ground up over renovation whilst retaining all the original features of the 1870 building.

I would just like to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your beautiful cottage.

It is one of the best we have ever stayed at.

The cottage was immaculately clean and the welcome pack was great, especially as Mcguigan is my favourite wine!

Milo loved his jumbone and the enclosed garden was perfect for him. The cottage was furnished so well and everything looked really good quality. We desperately wanted to use the wood burner as we love them but it just wasn’t cold enough, the cottage was toasty warm.

Everything about the place and location we thought was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again at some point. We have already recommended it to family and friends.

Fantastic cottage in a great location

We really enjoyed our stay it had everything we needed and the hot tub was a great touch. Great peaceful location. Was our first time in Northumberland and would definitely come back again it was just what we needed. Amazing, can’t wait to return. Would highly recommend!

The house is very beautifully decorated and is lovely, quiet and spacious. The garden area was particularly liked by our dog, he had plenty of room to run about it and we didn’t need to worry about him running off (everything is enclosed in with a wall/fence/gates). Which is probably a bonus for those with kids. You can tell a lot of time, precision and energy has been put into renovating the house, it was so beautiful and we couldn’t fault anything.

The house is located in the country, very quiet and secluded. Meaning the time spend in the hot tub was very peaceful! The house is around 40 minutes- 1 hour away from the coast and towns such as: Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell and more. Which isn’t a worry because you can spend all day in them areas and not really think about the drive home. It’s a 15- 20 minute drive to Alnwick centre where there is a; Morrison’s superstore, Aldi, petrol station, Alnwick castle and lots and lots more. There is a near by petrol station and store from the house in Powburn (about 5 minute drive) which is good also for the odd item.

Everything we needed from the house we received including: comfy beds, dog supplies, speedy WiFi, log burner, towels, iron, a fan for the hot nights and more. So the only things we needed to pack was clothes and toiletries!

We honestly couldn’t not have found a better place to stay and cannot wait to visit again! Would highly recommend to anyone. Even if you’re a couple looking for a romantic stay, dog owners, families with small children or even if your looking to go alone for a bit of tranquillity.

P.s We found a fish & chip van that moves from town to town on Fridays- we believe it stops between Powburn, Whittingham and Glanton. But honestly, it’s the best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time!

Two small issues

Well equipped and furnished property with all mod cons in delightfully rural position.

Only two small issues: the double bed is somewhat less than king sized (contrary to claims in cottage spec) and customers should be advised that there is no mobile phone reception within or in the grounds of the property. On leaving we were told that it was possible to link mobiles to excellent Internet connection, but how this could be done was not explained in the literature at the property.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your 4 Star review of our cottage. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. However, we feel there must be some confusion over your double bed comment. We have only ever advertised the master bedroom as having a standard double bed, it is not a king size and nor have we ever claimed it to be. As expected in a countryside location mobile signal differs depending on the network provider along with different phone types. We do provide free Wifi in the property and the password is provided to all guests for their convenience.

Wonderful Cottage

Outstandingly restored and presented cottage, with enormous thought and care taken in equipping it with everything a visitor could need. The eye for detail and effort taken over our comfort contributed to a superb mini-break experience. Ideally located for our trips to the Northumbrian coast and the National Park, yet isolated enough for perfect peace and quiet. Highly recommended.
