About the property

L-shaped, 4 double bed, 2 bath, huge main room. Surrounded by garden & country.

A unique, 4-bedroom barn conversion in the corner of a secluded courtyard.

Rated 4 star by 'VisitEngland' recently, who described it as 'a striking conversion, providing a very good standard of self-catering accommodation'.

The house has just been re-decorated and furnished to a high standard. Original features of the old stables have been retained, in the sympathetically restored master bedroom, including beams and names of the former equine residents!

The master suite includes a Kingsize bed with en-suite shower and garden access. A double bedroom also has French windows to the garden. Two twin bedrooms complete one side of the L- shaped house. All beds & mattresses are brand new. There is also a family bathroom with bath & shower.

The other 'half' of the L houses the enormous living room and kitchen, with wood-burner, flat-screen TV, large French windows to the garden, which surrounds the house. The old wood kitchen table seats 8. There's even a bed for a well-behaved dog, who has easy access to the garden & great walks in the surrounding countryside.

A trip to the renowned 'Old Inn' pub across the road is a must, if you don't feel like cooking. They cook delicious pizzas in an outdoor oven.

There's a washer/dryer in the well-equipped kitchen. There's also a travel cot and high-chair for babies and hair dryers in the two double bedrooms.

About Mrs AMH

We are a family of 5 - with 3 teenagers, who need plenty of sleep and activities in equal measure. We've fallen in love with East Dorset, for it's countryside, stunning coastline and fun things to do. Based in London for a decade, we now divide our time between Dorset and Switzerland - as we love nature and the great outdoors - be it the mountains or seaside.

Why Mrs AMH chose Wimborne

Having looked for a couple of years, we decided being near to the New Forest AND the Jurassic coastline was ideal. It's very quiet, but there's plenty to do - and nearby Wimborne Minster has all the amenities you could want. Having room for 8 people and a garden were also important for us. We wanted a property with character, but easy to manage. This ticked all the boxes for us, and the kids love it as much as we do.

What makes this bungalow unique

We've been amazed at the variety of things to do, from a waterski school at a nearby lake, to a sanctuary for monkeys, and a 'Go Ape' activity centre in the forest, with zipwires (at Moors Valley country park). There are also great restaurants in Wimborne Minster, with its' own theatre, that also shows movies. It's a corner of paradise, where you can chill out, unwind and do something different every day, if you want to. Every time I visit I want to stay longer...

Everything about 'The Courtyard' is easy, from parking, to access, & no stairs. Great for a mix of generations, or two families sharing a holiday together. It's what you make it, but there's plenty on your doorstep to have lots of fun for all the family, whatever age group.

Superb accommodation and setting

2 The Courtyard is a lovely holiday property with its setting in the Dorset countryside. We were a party of 4 adults, one baby of 21 months and a dog. The interior of the property was spacious especially the main living area. Much thought has gone into the kitchen equipment and the provision of a toy box for children in the lounge plus quality TV. The beds were comfortable and the ensuite bathroom to the main bedroom was excellent. There was plenty of wardrobe space throughout. Externally the garden has an outlook onto fields. There is a table tennis table and badminton equipment provided plus a BBQ area and a small sun terrace as can be seen in the photos on the property website. There is also adequate parking available at the front of the property for 2/3 cars. Wimborne Minster is only 5 minutes away and features many shops both local and national based within a country town environment. We were able to visit many beautiful beaches all with special arrangements for dog owners. Sandbanks, Southborne and Branksome. They are accessible in approximately 25 to 30 minutes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and without any doubts would stay here again

A comfortable home in an ideal location

We enjoyed our week at The Courtyard. The living space was great for our 3 generations and the beds were very comfortable. The good weather enabled us to enjoy the garden for games and barbecues. The location was ideal for our trips out. We all felt that the bathroom needs a revamp but would recommend it as a holiday home.

Very nice first impression

Very nice first impression.Sat navy took us to a different location to begin with but once in really very good.

Couple of points , lots of flys in kitchen/lounge

Dust bin full on arrival and not emptied till Friday

( 8 people’s rubbish for a week is a fair amount)

Bar b q was filthy, fridge door does not close firmly

Very good

The cottage was lovely, much bigger than it appeared in photos. It was very well equipped indoors and out. All three generations enjoyed the holiday. It was very peaceful and quite.

Wonderful for family reunion and local wedding

Very comfortable and beautifully furnished property in a lovely quiet position in Holt Village and 5 minutes walk from great pub, The Old Inn.

Only down side were the bathroom facilities with one en suite for 2 & one family bathroom for 6 adults but we managed !

Holt is a very typical rural English village in Dorset, with thatched cottages. The wonderful pub, the Old Inn, is the heart of village life and across the road from The Courtyard. Being equidistant from the New Forest and the Jurassic coastline, the location offers a great variety of holiday activities; from forest cycle rides and dog walks, to the seaside and inland lakes & waterparks. The Moors Valley Country Park is only 10km away with an adventure park and bikes for hire.
