House is beautiful, but toilet paper dish soap, hand soap trash bags were not there. Always had them there at every house I’ve rented.

October 2017 Stay

Lovely place. However the rules and regulations seemed very strict so we adopted a strict attitude to coincide with Gary Greene's regulations fearing we'd be charged if we screwed anything up. Upon arrival the pantry door handle fell off. Clearly it was broken prior and never repaired. Later on I discovered water on the floor in my downstairs bedroom. I looked up and clearly this leak was there prior because of stain to sheetrock. According to the young girl in the office inspectors come and inspect the properties after the renters leave looking for damages I'm sure. Did they charge the renters before for the door handle and never used the money to fix it? Did they not see the stained ceiling? Because of the price of this house we found the inconvenient damages unacceptable and maybe WE should be compensated. Otherwise great time was had by all.

Needs Some Attention

  • 4 of 5

I'm giving the property 4 stars because of the location and not necessarily some of the amenities that are touted. Here are some examples.

We got there and no grill, which was immediately taken care of and they brought us a new one. There were numerous bulbs out in both the downstairs and upstairs which we just lived with. Although the kitchen looks awesome in the pictures, the oven and one of the burners on the stove didn't work. Not to mention that awesome TV you see in the main living area worked the first day we got there and then it died. Not only did we have to follow-up on it more than once, since it's such a custom installation we didn't have it for the rest of the week. Which may not seem like a big deal but when you have 12 adults looking forward to seeing college and pro football over the weekend and it doesn't work, pretty disappointing. Yes, there's a much smaller TV upstairs and there's one in every bedroom but that's not very accommodating to 12 adults.

One other note in this area. The owner should do themselves a favor and clean-up the mess of electronics in the cabinet. Most of it, like the ancient VCR, is no longer relevant and just makes the process of trying to do anything more complicated than necessary.

If there were one or two things, not a big deal. However, when you're paying over $7K for a week in a house my expectations go up and the more I have to deal with the last satisfied I am. And yes, I know it says in the agreement that broken TV's and such do not constitute any refunds but again, I spent over $7K for a week.

All the reasons I state above are why I say this house needs some attention. They really do have high end everything in it but if someone isn't going to take the time to ensure it functions as advertised it leads to a level of disappointment that's unfortunate and could have been avoided.

Finally, I still rated it as 4 stars so I wouldn't hesitate booking it. Just be aware you may need to have maintenance there a couple times during your stay.

Fantastic House for a large group

  • 4 of 5

Our group of family and friends got together to celebrate my 40th birthday. We had a fantastic time in the house. We loved all the bedrooms, the views from every room, and being only steps from the beach. The decks were awesome for relaxing and enjoying the view, the openness of the house was nice so that everyone could enjoy their time together, the large TV was great for a few of the guys watching college football on Saturday, and the chef-style kitchen was fantastic for preparing breakfast in the mornings and dinner one night. Everyone especially loved having their own room, which is rare in most rental beach houses in this area with a large group!

A few small things that were unexpectedly disappointing in an almost-million-dollar house: Lots of light bulbs in the kitchen and main living area were burned out, there was no toilet paper or hand towel in the half bath upon arrival (which everyone rushed to use after a long drive down there), there was one small washcloth-size dish cloth for the entire kitchen (we looked EVERYWHERE), and the upstairs shower was visibly leaking through the ceiling in one of the master bedrooms and had been for some time. We submitted the shower issue through the app, so hopefully it will be fixed soon. As for the other things - they were minor, but we stay in houses like this around the country every year, and don't usually encounter things like that missing. They are small things that would have made our stay more pleasant.

Overall, we had a great time, and loved the house and location. We would stay there again if in the area with a large group!
