What makes this Cottage unique
Lovely countryside setting - perfect touring base - Wi-Fi
We loved our stay in this cottage - it was spacious, comfortable, with a lot of character. The location is very peaceful and quiet, and the bed was comfy, so a good night's sleep was guaranteed.
Gort is only a short drive away, with lots of shops etc. Coole Park, where you can walk in the woods that inspired W.B. Yeats, is also very close, and The Burren National Park is not much further. All in all a great base to explore the area.
Relaxing quiet with a wonderful host
Our host made us feel at home in this country cottage. She went above and beyond for this weary group. The house is as charming and clean as the pictures suggest.
First stay in Ireland
We stayed in this house for 3 nights when we first arrived from Shannon airport. It was just less than an hour away. My sisters and I wanted the comfort of a home to adjust to the time change and the convenience of proximity to major sites in western Galway and County Clare. We were also tracing our family history in Gort, which was an easy 10 minute drive. The drive to the burren was a bit longer than I thought, but mostly due to driving more slowly until I got used to driving on the opposite side of the VERY narrow roads. The views all along the way to the Cliffs of Moher are both wild and breathtaking.
The house itself was plenty roomy enough for 3 people. The kitchen is full size too and equipped with anything you'd need for cooking. The bathroom is huge and has both a shower and free standing tub. Like all showers in Ireland, it has a direct, on-demand heater so you always have hot water. The wifi was strong in the main sitting room with the fire adding to the coziness of the place. The drive from Gort is tricky without GPS, so save a little data from your phone to plug in the coordinates. We arrived early, so we drove all around the back roads and fell instantly in love with its beauty. There were cows grazing across the lane and horses in the field next to the house. There is a small, thatched cottage adjacent to the house which is currently being renovated, but adds so much charm to the site.
The owner Helen, stopped in to meet us just after we arrived. She was really sweet and very helpful. This place was the perfect introduction to Ireland.
tres confortable accueil symapthique
Perfect stay in a beautiful house!
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage! The house was very clean and cozy, we felt much like at home! Helen was a great host, very kind, and always reachable. The whole house was equipped very well- there was everything you need for daily life.
We would definitely come back!
Ganz liebe Grüße an Helen!
