About the property

Enjoy my cozy, comfortable condo while exploring the Smokey Mountain!

Mountain Condo at the top of the Smokies!

Enjoy the Smokey Mountains at it best in my English Mountain Resort Condo located on top of English Mountain. The English Mountain Resort is one of the Smokey Mountain's hidden surprises. It is located above the Forbidden Caverns which are located under the Smokies. My place will sleep 4 to 5. It has a queen size bed in the master bedroom, a queen sofa sleeper in the living room, and a matching sofa that can be used as a twin bed. The villa has a stone, wood burning fireplace, full kitchen with dishwasher, cookware, etc. You will love setting or swinging on the wrap around deck. while enjoying the mountain air. From the deck you can almost touch the clouds. I love seeing the moon over the treetops and the sun rising over the top of the Mountains. Even though you will enjoy the remoteness of the condo, the chalet has internet service, phone, and cable TV. Cable is in the bedroom and the living room. The chalet is street level so you can walk straight from the parking lot into the condo. This is perfect for us older travelers. There are not any steps to climb. The condo is an end unit and has the wrap around deck. The English Mountain Resort has a pool and sauna.

Several years ago, English Mountain was the home of a prestigious Medical Facility that used the wonderful, mineral springs located just a short distance from the English Mountain Resort to treat their patients. The Doctor that owned the facility claimed the minerals found in the springs were healing for numerous medical conditions that many people suffered from. His patients must have agreed because people would come from all over the Country to English Mountain so that they could soak their bodies in the minerals spring water for health purpose. He had a hotel built so that they could stay on English Mountain for their mineral treatments and enjoy the peace, serenity and solitude of beautiful English Mountain. I don't know if it was the wonderful mineral water or the peaceful English Mountain but people came for years for the healing powers found here. It was popular until the hotel burnt down several years ago and the Doctor chose to retired. This condo has the mineral water. I have always told my guests to turn the water on in the bathtub when they come in and let it run while they unpack their vehicle so that there wouldn't be a smell of the minerals because you can sometimes smell the minerals that are found in the water. If you would like to try the therapy of the mineral water, do not do this and If you happen to get a whiff of a chemical when you are bathing just know that there is not an extra charge and not only are you getting a great bath but it could actually make you feel better. lol

You experience your own beautiful views of the mountains and valleys on the 7 mile drive around and up English Mountain. It is located about 5 miles from Forbidden Caverns. Blowing Cave Road will change into Alpine Drive, but you do not leave the highway until you reach Cove Road and the English Mountain Resort will be located on the left about 150 yards.

If you are seeking peace, seclusion and relaxation this is the perfect place. If you want peace, seclusion, relaxation and enjoy restaurants, shows, sight seeing, etc., this is the perfect place because it is a beautiful drive to anywhere you would want to go. The drive down English Mountain gives you an awesome view of the Mountains, you can see Douglas Lake in the distance, you will pass Blowing Cave Church which is a quaint, charming country church. Forbidden Caverns is a "must see"!. When you leave the caverns, you can catch your own trout at the Trout Restaurant and they will cook it for you. Before you leave Blowing Cave Road, you will see a historical mill that will soon be in operation. If you turn to the right on 411, it will take you to the Bush Bean Restaurant and Museum. If you turn left it will take you on a scenic drive to Sevierville. If you turn left when leaving Cove Road, there are backroads to Carvers Applefarm Restaurant, Gatlinburg, etc., that keeps you away from the tourist traffic.

My husband and I love to take different routes and find the treasures of the Smokies. EXPERIENCE the Smokey Mountains! STAY IN THE MOUNTAINS!!

About Shelby Kilpatrick

I actually traded a condo on Daytona Beach for the peace and tranquility of the Smokey Mountains. My husband and two sons love nature, with the hunting and fishing. They did not hesitate with their opinion of where they had preferred to enjoy their vacations. After our children were grown, my husband and I invested in a few vacation properties. The English Mountain property is my husband's favorite place to be! We both think it soothes our nerves and gives us such a peaceful place to enjoy.

Shelby Kilpatrick purchased this condo in 2013

Why Shelby Kilpatrick chose Sevierville

We love the security of staying in a Resort, yet the experiences and enjoyment of living on English Mountain. We love the location and the different routes you can use to travel to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. We find every trip up and down the Mountain, an adventure with the different views and wild life. The highways are all paved and in good condition.

What makes this condo unique

We love relaxing on the balcony in our rockers or swing and just absorbing God's creation!

Quiet and comfortable get a way

  • 4 of 5

Everything was great... a couple of minor things out of place but not important enough to mention. Will definitely return to use this property again.

Owner's Response: I am glad that you enjoyed your time at English Mountain Resort. I hope that the leaves were still beautiful. If you would email me on the minor things, I would appreciate it. My guests' input does help me to try to keep my place in good order because I live out of state. I hope you keep my information and return again soon. Shelby 256 565 6777

Owner's Response: Ms. Joan was a wonderful guest. She stayed at my place for a month and was able to help me in identifying things that needed replacing, maintenance and repairs. Sometimes housekeeping does not catch them like a guest that is actually living in a place. Thank you so much for selecting my place, enjoying it and helping me with recommendations for improving. Thanks! Shelby

Relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a relaxing four-day stay in a tranquil setting. Great for bird watching, and the pool is a plus for kids. The condo and the English Mountain complex were comfortable and clean, and in close proximity to Forbidden Caverns. We spent most of our time hiking and exploring the wonders of Clingman's Dome and Cades Cove, as well as some of the tourist attractions of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The drive up English Mountain can be a bit tricky in places, and you'll want to stay alert for close encounters with wildlife (we encountered groundhogs and a red fox).

Owner's Response: Thank you for selecting my place for your stay. We love staying on the Mountain and I have conquered the drive up English Mountain by the Forbidden Caverns route. I have gotten where I actually enjoy it since I find it adventurous and somewhat exciting ......and at 70...that is a plus! My husband and I love the wildlife. There are usually numerous, wild turkeys for you to see and occasionally you might see a bear. I hope that you return again soon! Shelby Kilpatrick

Lovely views, peaceful and quaint!

  • 5 of 5

I was a little worried about the steep route so we took the one with more curves. I wasn't crazy about that drive up the mountain but after trying the steep route later, I liked that way much better. It's only about 17 miles from Sevierville but because of all the curves you cannot drive very fast and it take about 40 minutes to get to town. The views were beautiful! Very peaceful! I am so happy that we decided to stay in this condo instead of renting a hotel room. It was a little smaller than I expected especially when the bed was pulled out in the living room. However, we spent a lot of our time away from the mountain so we were mainly there in the evenings. It was so nice to have a home away from home. I was able to fix a lot of our meals and that saved us quite a bit of money. I had planned to cook on the grill but the grills are like the one you see at campsites. It was just easier to cook inside. It was also really nice that we could walk right into the place and not have to go up or down stairs. Sitting on the balcony in the mornings while I drank my coffee was the best part.

Owner's Response: Thank you for selecting our place for your vacation! I have found that I like the more direct route to English Mountain Resort also, but it did take me a bit longer than you. lol. I am sure with three sleeping in the living room, it did make the living area seem crowded, but once the sleeper is put away, the two sofa does give more sitting area. I am glad that you made the condo work for your family and that you enjoyed your time in the Mountains. We stayed in that condo Sunday and Monday and my husband really enjoyed being able to walk directly in from the parking area. I hope your stay created lasting memories for your family. I do have a two bedroom condo at English Mountain that has a queen and twin bed in the loft bedroom that your family would probably enjoy that is also listed with VRBO 610684. Thanks again for visiting our place and I hope you return again soon. Terry and Shelby Kilpatrick

Directions were easy, checking in was easy. The condo was nice but could use upgrades. Queen bed in the room was comfortable however the twin bed in the loft was slanted so it wasn't to pleasant for my guest to sleep on. There were dead bugs laying on the floor and the bathroom shower was not the best (the water didn't shut off). The fridge also didn't keep the food very cold. Although for the price you wouldn't be able to find anything better. Great communication with the owner!! Easy departure. 40 mins away from Max Patch Moutain! The bride had fun so.. successful bachorlorette party!
