5 BR Villa overlooking the sea in Dunoon sleeps up to 10-Hot Tub-Pet Friendly

This is a great place for nice chilled out weekend away for a large group. Hosts gave excellent instructions on how to get to the property and where to purchase ferry tickets for a discount. Any issues we had were resolved as soon as possible and easy to communicate with any questions during the visit. Not far from the town centre or morrisons for any shopping/pubs. Well worth the money if looking for a nice breakaway with a hot tub.
Family get togetbdr
First impression lovely view and great location, great area with lovely walks, really enjoyed watching the ships on the Clyde. The kitchen was poorly equipped with only 4 soup/cereal /pudding bowls, no serving dishes, potato peeler broken, oven/grilll was very dirty, dishwasher has no rise aid in it so didn't clean dishes properly, and I could go on and on., the garden at sometime has been lovely but now over grown with rusty patio furniture, hot tub was good. Bathroom needs a good clean grout dirty, shower cubical covered in black mold, shower head fell off and hit my grand daughter on the head controls difficult to see as broken, 10 people staying in this house and only 4 toilet rolls provided and no hand wash in toilet. Living room rug is disgusting. We had a great family get together but I felt embarrassed that I had booked this house as it was not up to our usual standard.
Property had lovely views but was very tired and not clean.
Property had lovely views, but the property was very tired, decking outside needed attention and the bedrooms and bedding wasn’t clean.
lydeside Villa Outrage
I am struggling to find good things to say on this stay, which is a shame as 9 members of our family had spent a long time trying to find the perfect date and accommodation with a hot tub to suit us all.
We have stayed at similar accommodations which were first class, but sadly this was not one of them.
First thing we noticed, the dishes and cutlery were grubby, we had to wash everything before use.
We then noticed that things around the whole house were far from spotless, the bed appeared to be thrown together, and worse there were electric wires hanging loose and within reach of the children.
Of course no one wanted to make an issue over any of this, because the weekend was meant to be a special occasion for our family, so we cleaned and carried on.
On our first morning the hot tub stopped working, we called and explained, telling him we had checked all the sockets etc. but couldn’t find what was wrong.
His reply was “I can’t get anyone to come and fix it because its Saturday, and no one would be available to fix it until our holiday was over!”
We explained that the hot tub was the main reason we booked this accommodation, and stressed that this was unacceptable, he said he would send someone round.
Someone did come, someone who admitted he had no idea about hot tubs, he left with it still not working.
The remainder of our holiday was spent without the hot tub.
I emailed numerous times when we returned home explaining again that we were very upset about the hot tub not working, he said he would give us a £30 refund! we paid (£633)
I expressed again that the only reason we booked this accommodation was solely because it had a hot tub, his reply was “no one books solely because of a hot tub” and proceeded to insinuate that we had broken it! That was the final insult, we will never book here, or use the Argyll self-catering holidays again. Absolutely outraged.
With regards to the review by Graeme Smith for their stay on Friday, 29 Mar 2019 to Mon, 01 Apr 2019 at Clydeside villa, we would like to clear up a few points. The call to the us, the owners, about the hot tub was made on the evening of the Saturday, when the clients said that they had been in the hot tub when it stopped working, (almost half way through the visit). We talked the client through trying to reboot, in case it was just a power failure and when this didn’t work, we offered to send the handy man round to take a look, in case he could reboot the system. We also said that the engineers probably wouldn’t come out but that if the hot hub failed to start up, we would contact them. At no time did we say the handyman was an expert, just that he may be able to help and was at the Villa within ½ an hour of the client’s call (on a Saturday night). On arrival at the Villa, the handyman noted that the decking area surrounding the hot tub was ‘soaking’ with water, which could only have come from the hot tub but that the tub was full of water and not up to temperature?? In such a short time the hot tub should not have been cold, unless it had cold water added to it. When the handyman was unable to reboot the system, we, the owners contacted the client and apologised again for the inconvenience and it was agreed at that time by ourselves and the client, on the phone, the whole of the fee for the hot tub be refunded, even although they did get use of the hot tub for 50% of their stay as we do appreciate that is one of the reasons they booked the house, to which the client replied, “How am I going to entertain my children now?” Signage clearly states that children under the age of 12 should not use the hot tub and that use of the tub should be in 15 minute cycles, to allow the filters to clean and avoid harmful bacteria. Having telephoned the engineers on the Sunday morning, they stated that they were unable to attend to the hot tub until the following Thursday and we contacted the clients and informed them of this, but talked them through switching the hot tub back on in case the problem had rectified itself. When this didn’t work, we, the owners, again stated that a full refund for the hot tub would be given. The hot tub has never broken down before or since. The engineer who attended the call out, after the client had left, stated that the reason for the fault was that there was significant water displacement from the tub causing it to overheat and blowing an internal fuse. If the hot tub is used per the instructions, which is staying in for one or two cycles and replacing the cover immediately, there should be only limited water loss. The hot tub had to be repaired at considerable cost to ourselves. We feel that having refunded the money for the hot tub, as agreed was all we could do in this occasion. As far as the cleanliness of the house and cutlery is concerned, we were not informed of any issue at the time and this is the first we have been informed about it. We have had numerous reviews and feedback about the house which support the fact that the house is kept to a very high standard. We very sorry that the client did not have a good experience at our property, but we feel we did all we could to rectify the situation and as a result were fully compensated for the issue. Yours sincerely Mr & Mrs. A.A. Blincow
Perfect home for a family get together
Fantastic place, house is amazing and spotless. Such a spacious well laid out house. Hot tub is a must. As a family we had a great weekend of chilling out watching ships and submarines going up and down the Clyde.
We will be back in the summer when the weather is better.
Only down fall was the master bedroom balcony door didn't seem to seal properly and as the weather was really bad the wind howled through the house but this is not down to the hosts.
Such a lovely stay in a beautiful home!
The house was so spacious with amazing views and very central! Hot tub was a superb addition. Hopefully be back very soon.
