Le Petit Cadeau

Le Petit Cadeau is located in the hamlet of Vulpelliere, tiny village at the edge of the town of Saint Rhemy en Bosses (AO), the famous resort just steps from the pass of the Great St. Bernard, on the historic Via Francigena.
The apartment, thanks to the careful restoration it has undergone, retains an atmosphere of times that immediately captures the guests as they arrive. The thick walls of local stone, the ceilings with exposed beams (1.94 m high), the floor in brushed larch, as well as the furnishings chosen with great care, of which most handmade by the owners themselves, enhance its rusticity and elegance.
Le Petit Cadeau has an enchanting view of the nearby Col Serena and is the ideal place to relax after a day on the many trails in the forest, bordered by creeks and streams, or on the ski runs of the nearby ski resort of Crevacol, that is just 400 meters, easily reached on foot.
Saint Rhemy en Bosses is an ancient village, located at an altitude of 1519 meters, at the crossroads of the valley of Bosses and the valley of the Great St. Bernard Pass.
The open and sunny slopes of Crevaol's Head host a ski area of about 22 km up to 2400 meters above sea level with views across the Gran San Bernardo Valley, also ideal for mountain-climbing trips.
Numerous itineraries for summer hiking or mountain biking, easily accessible from home, with the possibility to observe elements of the flora and fauna that characterize the Valley. Interesting what the Malatrà Hills, along the Alta Via No. 1, as well as excursions to the Citrin and Serena Hills.
In the country are advised to visit the Strong house at Chez-Vuillen and the old stone wash with the Count Savin di Bosses, the Castle of the Bosses lords dating from the fifteenth century and, on the Hill, the museum of the Great Saint Bernard, where, in summer, you can also visit the breeding of the legendary Saint Bernard dogs, true forerunners of modern rescue vehicles.
In February in Saint Rhemy en Bosses takes place the characteristic Carnival, in which costumes we find clear similarities with the Napoleonic uniforms, in fact Passage through the Great St. Bernard Pass Napoleon with an army of about 60 000 men, in climatic conditions prohibitive, it caused in the inhabitants of the entire valley feelings of awe and admiration, to affect deeply the collective imagination.
In July at Saint-Rhémy-en Bosses is the traditional feast of Jambon de Bosses, dedicated to the famous, quality uncooked ham with a delicate taste and strictly seasoned in the mountain pastures of the area, which we highly recommend to taste.
SKI and PLAYGROUND: a short walk from our house.

The favorable position of Crévacol, totally exposed to the south and therefore very sunny, making it the ideal place not only for those who love skiing, but also for those who prefer to relax and sunbathe in the sun, on the panoramic terraces of the refreshment points on the slopes at 2000 meters high.
Playground: A few minutes drive from our house.
Flassin alternative offers "playful" to also ski for those who can not ski but still want to enjoy the snow.
The playground on Flassin snow covers an area of about 5 hectares near the Foyer de Fond in rue de Flassin in the municipality of Saint-Oyen. Inside you can play different fun activities for both children and adults.
They have been prepared:
- A path for inflatables (snow tubing)
- A path for Airboard
- A track for snow bikes (snow bike and ski Fox)
- A path for skiing or snow boarding
- A track for sledges
- A roadmap for the bob
At about 20 meters from the playground you will find, in the Foyer de Fond structure, the bar restaurant, rent, toilets, showers and saunas that complement the offer of the playground.

Cross-track "Alta Valle del Gran San Bernardo"
Flassin is also a favorite destination for cross-country skiers. Three rings, perfectly prepared for both the alternating and skating, are spread over a total length of 18 km, with stretches in clear variables and beautiful forests of fir trees.
A well-equipped "Foyer de fond", with a waxing room, changing rooms, showers, rental service and bar-diner, complete the offer of the ski station.
ALPINE SKIING AND OUT TRACK
The breadth and variety of itineraries offer the opportunity to make the trip is suitable for your temperament, with varying differences in height between 800 and 1500 m. Many routes, thanks to the abundant snowfall this Alpine sector, guarantee excellent conditions from December to May.
The favorable northern exposure of some valleys allows you to ski on the sought after "poudreuse" until late in the season.
The "Jambon de Bosses" is a cured ham on site, whose salting holds considerable significance, in order to achieve its particular flavor.
During the period of salting (18-20 days) using a mixture of sodium chloride crystallized, minced garlic, sage, rosemary, pepper and berries only found on this territory.
After the salting, the hams are washed, dried and hung for curing (about 12 months) in a dark, cool and well-ventilated.
