Overview

About the property

New Trullo, Ceglie Messapica, large pool and beautiful gardens, private.

This Trullo is a new construction, built around an original trullo dating back over 500 years.

The trullo is near to the town of Ceglie Messapica, which is a historic town, near to Ostuni, Cisternino, and Alberobello. The trullo has been designed with quality in mind, and as soon as you enter the long drive up to the trullo, you will feel the character of this building come to life.

There are private gardens to the right, with fruit trees, and olive trees, as you enter the electronic gates, there is a car port, which can accommodate 4 cars. This is ideal as it gives much shade during the summer months. The trullo is magnificent, and as you enter through the main door, you come straight into a lounge, open plan, with dining table and very modern kitchen. The fixtures and fittings are of a high quality. The kitchen has everything you will need during your stay, with gas hob, small oven, and small dishwasher. Coffee Machine, toaster, and all the mod cons required for your holiday. There is a TV, so you can enjoy watching Italian TV and maybe brushing up on your Italian language skills. From this main trullo, you have two double bedrooms, one with a king sized bed, and stone shelving, with bedside cabinets, and patio doors opening up onto the grounds.

The next double bedroom has twin beds, with stone shelving, bedside cabinets, and plenty of room for either two adults or two children. These two bedrooms share a bathroom, with modern shower, black sink, built on a stone support. Toilet, bidet. From the lounge there is also patio doors that open up onto the gardens, and pool area, with plenty of covered veranda space, for 9.

There are comfortable seating areas throughout and covered veranda's, where you can enjoy breakfast with warm croissants, and freshly brewed coffee. The next trullo adjoining, but accessed from a separate entrance, gives you an open plan lounge, kitchen area. Ideal for a couple. Independent of the main trullo, there is also a gas hob, electric oven, and dishwasher Wall mounted white TV. With coffee making facilities, sink, and drainer. Through to the bathroom on the left, again high quality, fittings, with stone washbasin, in black, toilet and bidet, and large shower area. There is also storage to the right, opposite the bathroom for your luggage.

From here you go through to the bedroom, which has wardrobes, and a king sized bed. All rooms have air conditioning throughout.

From the patio doors, you have your own covered veranda, with seating for 4, with views of the gardens and pool. The large stone built BBQ with outdoor lighting, is ideal for cooking outdoor grills, with local produce bought from the market, or local butchers. Outside the 10m x 5m pool at 1.2m  up to a maximum of 1.3m deep is ideal, for cooling off during the heat of the day. Plenty of areas to relax and enjoy the Puglian sunshine.

There is a covered pergola, and seating, along with an outdoor, shower, and toilet. Outside there are cleverly designed stone sunbeds with cushions, with parasols, which are great for those who want to relax and soak up the puglian sunshine. Under this veranda, there are quality white and grey furniture, where you can look out over the pool and gardens, whilst drinking a glass of champagne, or Prosecco. Prosecco is very popular mixed as a ‘spritz’ which is the drink taken before a meal know as an aperitivo, usually eaten with stuzzichini (which is a mixture of little snacks, a bit like a tapas).

The gardens are superb, with different areas to sunbath. At the top of the garden you have a covered pergola, with Asian influences, and a double sunbed area, ideal for relaxing and sleeping during the day. This area is away from the main pool area. There are also hammocks, in which to shelter, whilst reading your favorite book.

There is another bedroom with en-suite and small kitchen, attached to the trullo, but not accessed from the inside. Double bed, with wall mounted TV and Air Conditioning.

The small trullo with single seating/or sofa bed, is ideal for a teenager or children wanting some time to relax, in a snug, with seating, ideal for chilling, or playing games on their i-phone.

This is a quaint room, with toilet, shower - modern wet room.

Ostuni is only a short drive away, with its famous 'White City', where you can enjoy the hussle and bussle of Italian life, just watching the world go by. Many bars and restaurants can be found around every corner. Its windy roads encourage you to park your car, and enjoy a passeggiata. As there are many hidden gems to be found whilst walking through these old streets.

Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge.

Please note that cleaning fee of € 366,00 will only be charged for stays of 6 nights or less.

Location

Car: necessary
Other Activities:

Cisternino a town near to Ceglie is set on a hilltop, surrounded by endless plains of olive groves. The town has a beautiful historical centre, completely closed-off to cars. In fact the streets are so narrow and winding in some parts, it would be impossible for cars to pass through them! Wandering through the alleyways, you will come across the beautiful clock tower in the main square, several stunning churches and the remains of the Norman tower, Porta Grande that once marked the entrance to the town.

Wine and Cuisine Puglia is a paradise for lovers of food and wine. The sunny climate creates perfect conditions for the cultivation of magnificent olives, legendary grapes and some of the most flavorsome vegetables you will ever taste. The region has a rich agricultural tradition and as a result of the recipes use simple, locally grown ingredients to fabulous ends. Not to be missed is the mouth-watering Burrata cheese, which is a soft cheese, and has to be eaten of the day of purchase.

Matera is a city and a province in the region of Basilicata. The town lies in a small canyon carved out by the Gravina (small stream and ravine). Coordinates: 40° 40'N 16°36'E. The place to visit is the historical centre called 'Sassi' considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993, along with the Park of the Rupestrian Churches. In October 2014 Matera was declared Italian host of European Capital of Culture for 2019.

Locorotondo has a labyrinth of streets and alleyways, in which to meander and explore. This City is known for its wines and for its circular structure. which is now a historical centre, from which derives its name, which means 'Round Place'. It is deep in the Itria Valley dotted with white prehistoric roundhouses called trulli. The houses are topped with unusual pitched roofs called 'cummerse' a feature typical of the historical centre.

Zoosafari Fasonolandia is an animal attraction and theme park in Fasano. The park includes a drive through safari park in the visitor's own vehicle as well as a walk around animal area, animal shows and several rides. From the centre of Locorotondo the Zoo is only 15 minutes’ drive, approximately 10.6km.

Castellana Grotte is a little country town famous for its caves or ‘grotte’ after which the town is named. As the caves are on the edge of town, in high season Castellana is not packed with day trippers. The town of Castellana stands on a hilltop overlooking sweeping plains and vineyards. Its oldest street was builet during the 17th Dentury so you’ll be able to stroll past the ornately frescoed Palazzo Longo and enjoy the fascinating little shops and bustling restaurants. Anciient churches, picture postcard piazzas and clock towers add to the charm. The caves are open all year round and offer an interesting day out for all ages, especially if the weather is less than perfect. One of the largest cave complexes in Europe, it contains a fascinating variety of rock formations, culminating in the breathtaking ‘Grotta Bianca’ or ‘White Cave’. Entrance is with a tour guide only and visits last around 2 hours.

Savelletri has an 18 hole golf course and is rated amongst the best in Italy. San Domenico 18 hole championship club on the crystalline Adriatic Sea has a combination of good golf, good weather and good food. The myriad bunkers and fierce rough characterise this championship layout.

Acaya Gold and country Club is near Lecce, part of the Hilton resort and home to a Costantino Rocca Academy, is perhaps the most welcoming of the five Puglia options, with open fairways and receptive greens. Good for golfers with a moderate ability. Barialto Gold Club - just outside Bari is set around a central lake with the greens weaving through an ancient olive grove.

Riva dei Tessali Resort - on the coast of Taranto with 18-holes. The fairways are carved through dense pine forests, whilst there are no sea views

Trullo Itaka is a beautiful property located near Ceglie Messapica, a place between the High Salento and Itria Valley, famous for its culinary tradition.

This Trullo is located in the countryside of Ceglie, these areas are famous for their ancient olive trees that instill a feeling of relaxation and make you want to return to the life of years ago, when people had fun in the shade of these beautiful trees.

Whilst the Trullo is in the countrside, it is only a 5 minutes drive to the town, which is steeped in history.
