About the property

Private historic cottage with gated parking and a private backyard

This cozy family-friendly private home includes gated parking. Start your morning with coffee on the front porch or enjoy a relaxing evening in the backyard garden. The Alamo is only a short walk! Other downtown area attractions in close proximity include the San Antonio Riverwalk, Tobin Center, The Majestic, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Sunset Station, and the Alamodome.

Known as the Engelmann-Muench House, this cottage was built in 1858 by Martin Engelmann, a wealthy German immigrant. The caliche block vernacular double house sits on a site which was once part of the Alamo farmlands. The structure is a good example of a once-common San Antonio house type and features original built-in end chimneys.

Great home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The House was great and less than 10 minute walk to the Alamo. We loved our stay and had a very minor hiccup which Mona came to personally resolve. Loved our stay and highly recommend it.

The house is well decorated and comfortable. I love the natural light from the big windows. The gated parking area was also very convenient and secure. Overall we had a great trip

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

StoneHaus was exactly what we needed for our stay in San Antonio. Within walking distance to the River Walk and just the right size for our party of four adults and a one year old. There was even a smaller room for us to put the baby’s crib so the adults could enjoy some time together in the evenings without worrying about waking the baby. Neat little historic house with a beautifully landscaped yard and breezy patio!

Great , unique home

Great location for walking to the Alamo, River Walk & shopping. Cute market just around the corner with a very large meat case and produce section. Home was very roomy and comfortable. Loved the unique style; house on the National Register. Felt very safe

Great property within walking distance to the Riverwalk

  • 5 of 5

I booked the cottage for my sister's bachelorette party, and it was comfortable for the five of us. Mona was very sweet to have a bottle of champagne waiting for us (as well as a non-alcoholic option for the pregnant ladies in the group)! The house was within walking distance to everything we wanted to do - the Alamo, the Riverwalk, even El Mercado (although that was a little further). We loved the history and the style of the home - would definitely stay here again!

Cottage was well appointed with everything needed while in SA. Location was terrific for going to the Alamo or the Riverwalk, just to name a few.
