We are two couples, a sister and brother with spouses/good friends, that decided to venture into the vacation rental business together. We are native Franklin residents and love showing off our unique town. We hope that staying at Academy House makes your experience here one to remember.
Academy house is special to us first because it is located across the street from where the two guys in our group went to high school, Battle Ground Academy. Otherwise, its conveniently located near Main Street Franklin where you'll find unique shops and restaurants, street festivals, a restored movie theatre that is a music venue as well as movies, and many other interests as well like the library, Civil War historical tour, a small park, groceries and horse venues. There's a front porch swing to enjoy watching the small town traffic pass by and a fenced in back yard for your dog that has 2 loungers under an arbor with a deck to enjoy a meal in the sunshine off the kitchen. Its a perfect place for us to show off our beautiful, historic small town to out of town visitors. We hope you'll come back for a return stay and tell your friends about us.
This house was so comfortable, cozy and perfectly decorated. As my elderly father said he has never seen a house so clean. It had everything we could ask for including a fenced in backyard for our three dogs. This house would be perfect for a girls weekend; close to antique shops, restaurants and even a quilt shop. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this house to my friends and family. The owner is a delight to work with.
Our family was in Franklin to celebrate my niece's graduation from Lipscomb! This quaint bungalow proved to be one of the best parts of our trip, as we were all under one roof to make memories and briefly relax, when we weren't attending graduation activities, eating, shopping or art crawling in Franklin! Thank you for being the hostess with the mostest! ❤️
The house was super nice, better than the pictures represent and better than we expected or hoped for. Super clean and comfortable. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
This was our second time staying at this cozy home. Love how close it is to shopping, great restaurants, and all the awesomeness of downtown Franklin! There was plenty of room for our whole family. The private upstairs bed and bath makes it a great choice for families with adult children. The decor was picture perfect, and the beds were all comfortable. We enjoyed the back deck and small private yard. It is very clean, has great amenities and the owner is a joy to work with. I would highly recommend this property!
Our family of five had a great time staying at academy house. Our kids are 6, 8, and 10 and they had room to play inside and out. We used the kitchen a lot and it worked well. It's not a big kitchen but it had what we needed. Franklin is a great town. The downtown is old and charming. There is a very large park (200 acres) with a dog park that the kids and dog loved. The owner, Julie, was very responsive to our needs.
My husband and I chose Academy house as a halfway point to meet our son and daughter-in-law for a relaxing Thanksgiving vacation. Directions provided were perfect, but because of traffic, we missed the driveway and had to make a u-turn. On arrival, we found a beautiful early-20th century bungalow that was tastefully decorated with antique and traditional furnishings, with all of the modern amenities thrown in! (In fact, if we had driven the van, they might be missing the beautiful inlaid dresser from the master bedroom!!) The kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare meals, even a Thanksgiving dinner. The Master was quite spacious and had the most comfortable that we have ever slept in. Our son and his wife used the upstairs bedroom, which is furnished with 2 double beds -- the only thing missing was a door to that room, but I don't see that it would be structurally possible -- and there was no lack of privacy for them. We didn't use the 3rd bedroom, but it was very cute. A suggestion for an improvement would be replacement of the side steps to the porch, which are uneven, and, though there are only 3 steps, they were a challenge for me because of arthritis in my knees. Every convenience is near the house -- groceries, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing, and the hostess provided a book which provided directions to these many amenities. We wore ourselves out antiquing, and especially enjoyed meals at Puckett's Grocery (yes, a restaurant) and the Greek food at Taziki's. All in all, this would be an excellent place to stay for anyone, and comes highly recommended. Congratulations on your excellent rental -- we wish you all success!!
This charming bungalow is located walking distance to Main Street where there are boutique shops, restaurants, antiques and much more. There are walking trails, dog parks, Brownland Farms, which is an equestrian event venue, and Natchez Trace Parkway all within minutes to drive from this location. Franklin is a wonderful place to enjoy Civil War history tours and our many festivals and music events. There is an Art Crawl / Wine Tasting event every 1st Friday evening of every month on Main Street featuring local artists with a variety of medias. Not to mention, it's just 30 minutes from the fabulous Nashville - Music City!
