Convenient and Comfortable Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our one week stay at Beaver Lodge in a nice and quiet residential area of Bayfield. It is a comfortable and well-equipped cottage within easy walking distance of Main Street. The walk on nearby residential streets to the entry point for the beach is short with a long stairway down to the water. The owner has left very useful print information on the cottage, local restaurants and other local attractions and he can be reached by phone if necessary.

nice fenced in property with lots of blue jays

  • 3 of 5

Beach was not easy axcess. Front door lock was not easy to unlock. And if pushed hard enough you could open the door. Didn't like the idea that we had to take care of the garbage and move furniture in order for the landscapers to mow lawn. Axe should be sharpened or replaced. Couldn't split a log. Otherwise the cottage was very comfortable. Lighting very dark. One of the bedroom mattresses had a big dip in the middle. Should be replaced.

Owner's Response: We are sorry your time at the cottage was not perfect. That is what we strive for. I will address your concerns: The closest beach access has about 75 steps to get to the beach which can be challenging for some people. However, the main beach which is about 1km from the cottage has lake level access. We have never had any issues or complaints about the front door but I will have it checked out. I believe most cottage rentals require you to look after your own garbage disposal whether that means purchasing a bag tag or taking it with you when you leave. I am not sure what other options there are. The landscaper is quite capable of moving any lawn furniture to cut the grass but we have suggested that renters do it as a courtesy, certainly not a requirement. We don't supply an axe due to liability concerns. The one that was there was there by mistake and will be removed. We have had many comments about the comfort of the beds but never a negative comment. However, we will certainly replace a mattress if needed. (If you get a chance can you let me know which bedroom has the dip in the mattress) Again, we are sorry the cottage was not perfect for you, we strive for perfection and we will keep working towards it.

The property is well maintained with a new deck out front and a lovely back yard.

The cottage was neat and tidy with enough floor space to operate a walker sine my husband has some mobility issues. We ,enjoyed the park on the Lake as well as shopping in Bayfield. We both enjoyed going into Bayfield, my husband on his scooter and I could walk. We also enjoyed touring the area of Goderich, etc. Hope to do it again next year.

everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this little cottage. We like being able to head out during the day then come back and make our own meals in the very well equipped kitchen and get a good rest in a comfortable bed at night. The back yard offered plenty of shade with tons of privacy and a nice little patio for our guests to enjoy. Very close to the beach and an easy walk up town as well. Would definitely stay again.
