|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
This sweet cabin is rustic with all the modern necessities. Although it sits in a quiet neighborhood, it feels like you are miles away from civilization. Do not be surprised if you hear the wolves howling or the moose walking though the yard.
Two Queen Bed, Four Twin beds. One full bathroom and one 3/4 Bathroom. Includes Gas Stove, Refrigerator, Washer & Dryer, Direct TV, Hi Speed internet, and has 4G cell service.
Enjoy the barbecue and fire pit on the deck. (Firewood is not included. The trees on our lot are not to be cut for fire wood.) All ages will have fun playing horse shoes in the horseshoe pit that is located right on the property.
Matt and I are life long Alaskans. We moved to Healy, from Anchorage, in 2012 to work at the Usibelli Coal Mine. We fell in love with this community and enjoy all the visitors in the summer time. Our passions are four wheeling, fishing and moose hunting.
Matt and Vicki Nelson purchased this house in 2013
We recently purchased a larger home close by to accomodate our friends and family that come to visit. We are using the log home as a rental until our retirement.
It just is the wonderful Alaskan dream to live in a log home and yet still have the comforts of civilization. Awsome experience!
We stayed here for 3 nights. It was clean, well maintained and easy to find. Loved the quiet location. It was totally worth the nightly price for 2 couples. If you fill all the beds, it's worth its weight in gold! Enjoyed the fire pit. Purchase wood at Miners Market (less than 5 minutes drive from the house). Appreciated the full kitchen for breakfast and dinner. Full size washer and dryer was a definite bonus as this allowed us to prepare for the next part of our adventure. Beds comfortable. Wifi worked well.
Matt and Vicky's advise for touring the area was spot on although I'd say our travel time to Denali park entrance was 20 minutes in addition to waiting for construction delays (and I'm a speed violator!).
Appreciated staying in local neighborhood vs. Glitter Gulch. Why would you stay with the crowds while visiting this remote paradise when you can experience how a local would.
We had a fantastic stay at the Alaskan Lights Log Cabin! I was in touch with Vicki about 2 weeks before arriving. She was very friendly and shared lot of useful tips about the place, safety, where to buy groceries, etc. The property was very clean with all the amenities that you would ever need. We were there for 3 nights and felt as if we were staying at home. The fridge and the shelves also had lot of items which helped. The location was about 10-12 miles north of Denali National Park's Main Entrance. It was a very convenient location for us (a group of six).
Vicki was an extremely wonderful host. We were arriving after midnight and had lost our way. We took a wrong path and had wandered about 3-4 miles into a jungle with no one around. I called up Vicki in the middle of the night. She woke up from her sleep and came to find us. She called me to find out where we were, drove her jeep inside the jungle and guided us to the property. This is a gesture we will never forget. Who would wake up in the middle of the night and drive their vehicle in the middle of the jungle with no one around to help you? This is something unheard of.
I would definitely stay at this place again! Thank you so much Vicki for allowing us to stay at your place and helping us in the middle of the night.
The cabin was Oman great loacation. It was well stocked although too much stuff has been left in the cupboards so there was no space for our groceries - which you should but way before you get to Denali
It needs a good clean. The logs that made up the walls very dusty and the inside of the kitchen cupboards dirty. We also found a sock under the sofa and broken electrical socket.
We did have a lovely time but it did/does need a good clean
Exceeded expectations.Well supplied kitchen.Vicky was very helpful.Good location. Quiet and peaceful.Would stay here again if we ever come back to Alaska.
Mid-August 2016 - we stayed here for 4 nights with 5 people (my wife, daughter and my parents). The house is a little hidden, but after finding it the first time, we had no problems (the area in general has a lot of dirt roads that don't always have street signs). Vicki was nice enough to drive by so we could follow her and show us around the house.
Location: Healy is about a 15 minute drive north of the Denali Park entrance. We loved that it was away from the expensive hotels, yet close enough that we did have a few meals there. The Denali area in general isn't very big - there's only about 10 restaurants and no grocery stores (pick it up in Anchorage before you get there or some stuff is at the nearby gas station). Expect to pay more (paid $5 for a dozen eggs + $6 for a 1/2 gallon of milk).
House: It is a log cabin that gives you the feel of "Alaska". Loved that it had spices, coffee and pancake mix (we picked fresh blueberries out back and made blueberry pancakes). It was great having the convenience of a washing machine (with detergent). The beds and linens were super comfortable. With only 5 of us...we were able to spread out.
I would highly recommend this place and we would stay here again. Except this time we'll buy some groceries before we get there and throw some food on the BBQ!
Thanks again Vicki!!!!
Were greeted by lovely blooming flowers surrounding the cabin and a well manicured lawn. The cabin had plenty of sleeping space and room for our party of four to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked which came in handy. We played several games of horseshoes and the Outlaws ruled!
The location was great as it allowed easy travel to our destinations of Denali and Fairbanks. Matt & Vicki had great recommendations/tips while visiting the park and local restaurants.
This cozy cabin is only 10 miles away from the Denali National Park. Out the back door and you are walking in peace down the powerline trail which enjoys moose, wolves, fox, bears, and a variety of birds.
