The HUGE living room, library and dining room, kitchen and half bath are on the first floor. It is fully furnished for you to make yourselves at home. About Carroll Reetz

We are avid travelers and running this guesthouse allows us some freedom in the off season to do just that. Carroll spent most of her career in Human Resources but gave it all up (darn) several years ago to open a hostel in Niagara Falls- leaving the wonderful California weather behind but gaining a wonderful husband. Andre is from Germany and we found each other here! We have since expanded from the hostel and added a couple vacation rentals to our endeavors. We think they are a great alternative to a sterile hostel - more like home away from home.

Carroll Reetz purchased this house in 2014

Why Carroll Reetz chose Niagara Falls

Over the last several years, we have purchased several homes and brought them back to life. When Andre saw this one on the market, we thought long and hard about it since it needed a lot of work. But could not let it go. It is a beautiful old home in a fabulous location near the Falls. This is an area undergoing revitalization and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

What makes this house unique

The house is LARGE. It is our only house that will accommodate 8-12 people. There are 2 full and 1 half bath and two staircases (front and back). It is ideal for large families or reunions with friends. It is also a great place for preparing for a wedding at the Falls. Plenty of space for all.

Amazing house and great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

The house is amazing! The neighborhood appeared a little shady when we pulled up but we had no complaints our entire stay. The house itself is lovely. Much bigger than it appears from the street. There was plenty of room for the 8 adults that were staying with us. Everything we needed was available and if not Carroll was just a phone call away. So happy we chose to stay here!

This is the second time we are staying at The Mint. As always, we had good time. And we look forward to stay there again in future.

Perfect place to stay for a medium size family. Well kept. Will stay again

  • 5 of 5

Great owner, available to respond quickly for any concerns / questions. Property was great and very well kept. The property made our whole niagara fall trip great... We felt at home outside our home.. Will prefer this over any other option in future too.

Warm and cozy house, walking distance to almost all attractions

  • 5 of 5

Very warm and cozy place. We found it well done up and clean at the time of check in. Beds and choice of linens were good too. Lot of space to laze around and sleep.

Best part is vicinity of all Niagara attractions. Just a short walk away is the aquarium and trolley to other Niagara spots.

Overall a great comfortable experience for our holidays.

The house is situated in the Park Place Historic District within a typical rust belt city. It is a national historic district located at Niagara Falls in Niagara County, New York. It encompasses 89 contributing buildings. It is principally a residential district built up between 1885 and 1928. The dominant architectural styles are Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and Arts and Crafts.

This an urban environment with a diverse racial and socioeconomic population. While many of the big old houses in the area are lovely and well maintained, there are others that are neglected or empty. It is an area that is slowly being brought back to life with new people and energy.
