About Gwen Albers

We purchased the Moonshiner Cabin in 2013, and two years later, moved to Las Vegas, NM., to be closer to Gwen's 86-year-old mother. We enjoyed living in Bryson City with the rivers for boating and fishing, the hiking, the scenery, the people and the quiet. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we have.

Why Gwen Albers chose Bryson City Area

This home is in a perfect location. It's secluded and private, yet only minutes away from a main highway for visiting Cherokee, Bryson City, Fontana Lake, the Nantahala Gorge and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was a great experience! It's a great place to bring the family or go on a couple's getaway! There are so many things to do. Such as white water rafting, zip lining, Deep Creek tubing, shopping, dining and much more!

Beautiful Cabin!! Lovely Time!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at the cabin; it was very quiet, clean and well maintained. We had a little difficulty finding the road; but finally managed to locate it. The owner was quick to respond to any concerns. Would definitely recommend.

Love the location! The house had that warm and inviting feel to it. Everything I hope it would have. Could not have ask for better people to rent from. I had a few issues while booking, but the owners were very friendly and helpful. With their help the issues were quickly resolved. Would recommend the cabin to anyone who needs to just get away for awhile.

Perfect romantic cabin in the center of it all!

  • 5 of 5

We had a FANTASTIC getaway weekend at this cabin.

The cabin is secluded but near so many things to do. From kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the many lakes and rivers in the area, to enjoying the atmosphere of Cherokee and a little slot machine playing , to touring downtown Bryson City, to hiking the many, many hiking trails in the area, we were able to fit a lot into three days. The cabin was the perfect center point for us to enjoy all the activities around it.

It is well stocked with all the necessities needed to prepare all your meals (Pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils, etc)

One thing I will specify is the grill is charcoal, not gas. So make sure to bring charcoal. Other than that, it was a terrific place to stay. Thank you!

Doesn't get better than this!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin with all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. It is even prettier in person. We already knew from the pictures it would be nice, but actually walking into it for the first time was like WOW this is nice!! It is nice and secluded on a beautiful private lot, yet only 2 minutes from the major highway. My mom and I stayed for 10 days. The cabin is about 15 minutes from downtown Bryson City, 12 minutes from the Nantahala Outdoor Center, 30-35 minutes from Cherokee, and a little over an hour to Waynesville and Asheville. There are also lots of other things to do not far from the cabin, which is nice. Lots of places to do outdoor activities near by. The hot tub was so nice to relax in after a full day's activities. I definitely recommend this cabin to everyone. We will definitely be renting it again in the future!! Gwen was so nice and always answered any questions I had. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful cabin!
