Extra information: The owners of La Guanabana live in another house very nearby during the summer months and so are on hand to help with any queries about the house, the island, places to see and things to do.
I first discovered Menorca when studying Spanish in Barcelona back in the early 70s. We came here for a family holiday in 1979 and were soon completely hooked. Three decades later Menorca still has more unspoiled beaches and virgin coastline than any of its sister islands. We bought the villa that we now let in 1991 and built a second villa next door in 2003. We are based in Menorca from May to early October which enables us to welcome our guests in person and provide any help they may need during their stay. We know the island very well and are very happy to help our more adventurous guests to discover some its many hidden treasures.
David and Penny Rendall purchased this villa in 1991
We decided to buy our villa in Binissafuller for the three most often quoted reasons: location, location, location. First of all the villa has beautiful views over Binissafuller bay and is just minutes from the sea. Second it is on a quiet residential road in a coastal hamlet that has been established for many years and where the houses tend to have large gardens with a lot of mature trees and plants. Third it is convenient in terms of local facilities - shops, restaurants etc without being part of a major tourist development. As is to be expected, the island gets pretty busy in high season but in the seclusion of this villa that's something you hardly notice.
In addition to all the usual comforts of a well-equipped villa there is wifi internet access and a bluetooth speaker. Unlike many of the more modern developments there is ample shade available at different times of day be it in the main outside dining area/porch or under the large pergola next to the pool or in one of 2 hammocks under the trees.
The nearby rock pools provide brilliant snorkeling in turquoise water and the pretty family beach of Binissafuller is just 10 minutes walk. There is an excellent fish bar on the sea front just two minutes walk away.
We love this place: the pictures and description of the property are accurate. The location is great: right on the sea (little cove for swimming and snorkeling at bottom of garden, with beach 10 mins walk away), but in a very peaceful area even at the height of the season. It is also in a part of the island surrounded by lovely villages and great restaurants, with the beautiful port and harbour of Mahon only a 20 min drive away. Our children love it too. The owners are charming, and the property is maintained to a high standard with all mod cons (including broadband!) and a high quality welcome food package. We are all looking forward to our next visit.
All the reviews I read about this property are true. Perfect location with sea view, short walk to local restaurants in Binnibecca and to pop for a snorkel off the nearby platforms. Fantastic welcome pack for our lunch on day of arrival. Layout of the villa worked really well for our extended family - two families and grandma! Well maintained with everything we needed including beach towels, which was a blessing with weight restrictions on suitcases nowadays. Free wifi connection went down well with our teenage children. Brilliant customer service from David and Penny who always replied to my e-mails promptly with plenty of helpful advice whenever I needed it. We love Menorca, the beautiful small coves with golden beaches are great for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and relaxing! The Thai restaurant about 5 mins walk away serves delicious food and was our favourite. If we holiday as an extended family again we would definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful time.
We visited David and Penny's delightful villa in June this year. My parents arrived a few days ahead of us to a fantastic welcome pack, my husband, 2 year old son and I then arrived for a week's stay. The layout is ideal for groups as we had the bedrooms at one end and my parents had the master bedroom at the other end. The pool is wonderful and my son loved chasing around the garden which is a mixture of flower beds, gravel paths, trees and a lovely shaded hammock area. The walk down to the sea is easy enough and there are lovely bathing and diving jetties scattered amongst the rocks. The local restaurant (less than 5 mins walk away) was great and we also found plenty of nice restaurants at Binebeca Vell (20 mins walk away).
The peace and quiet of the villa combined with such a convenient location for restaurants, beaches and the beautiful Med was a great combination - we enjoyed our stay so much we have booked to return in June next year! Many thanks David and Penny.
We found this villa to be in an idyllic peaceful location but yet handy for restaurants and supermarket with beaches only a few minutes walk away. The layout suited our mixed age family very well providing distinct spaces for all. It was well equipped even down to on tap drinking water. The supply and variety of provisions on arrival was the best we have come across.
We were welcomed by the owner who showed us over the property and gave us tips on the area.
3 generations of our family (6 adults & 4 children) stayed here at the end of May/beginning of June this year.
The main house is simply furnished, with bedroom/bathroom layouts ideal for 2 families sharing. The annexe offers a welcome degree of separation and privacy (eg for grandparents), albeit with a somewhat basic shower room en suite.
Outside the pool is lovely, and there are two shaded eating areas, one in close proximity to the kitchen, with ample room for 10 at the table.
The house is within reasonable walking distance of the pretty sandy beach at Binissafuller, and there are attractive diving rocks just a short stroll from the bottom of the garden.
Some aircraft noise is inevitable, given the location, though not overly intrusive.
The starter food and drink pack provided by the owners is pretty impressive - more than ample for the first lunch for all 10 of us, saving us an unwelcome immediate dash to the supermatket!
A bonus is the excellent suoermarket and several of Menorca's finest restaurants all within easy driving distance from the house.
We have just returned from a holiday with our family at this fabulous villa.
The photos illustrate how pretty it is, the description is absolutely accurate but there's no way to describe the welcoming feeling we all experienced on our arrival. It WAS home from home, everything that anyone could have wanted was there. To say that the welcome pack was better than any we have ever found in a property doesn't do it justice, it was fabulous and helped to introduce us to the wonderful cheeses, meats and wine to be found in the local(ish) supermarket.
The location, for us, was perfect, quiet and private but within easy access to a great snorkeling beach and a small sandy beach for the children. Binebeca was an easy walk which gave us the option to visit bars and restaurants if we chose to do so. Mostly though we ate at 'home' - the BBQ being so convenient.
David and Penny were very helpful and gave us sound advice both before our arrival in Menorca and during our holiday - thank you.
The house is just 100 metres from the sea, on a quiet residential road in Binissafuller (near Sant Lluis), one of the South East coast's longest established and greenest settlements. Just beyond the bottom of the garden a deep rocky inlet provides wonderful snorkeling in clear turquoise waters. Next to this, a small natural harbour is overlooked by a charming bar/restaurant that serves excellent fresh fish. More restaurants and shops can be found in Binibeca Vell, 10 minutes walk away. Binisafuller beach is 10 minutes walk in the other direction and just beyond the beach there are two more good restaurants. Mahon and the Airport are a 15 minute drive.
