Located in a seventeenth century building, this studio is very quiet and sunny: it combines the charm of the old with modern comfort. It is equipped with a large bed of 1.40 m by 1.90 m.
The studio is located on the 3rd floor and no elevator. The famous walking Mouffetard is next to the building. Several supermarkets are within 150 meters
You are the center of Paris in the heart of the Latin Quarter near the Sorbonne, the Pantheon, the Museum of Natural History, the Botanical Gardens and its famous menagerie. This area is very safe at all times.
The metro Censier-Daubenton, parking patriarchs and buses 27 and 91 are within 5 minutes walk. It has direct access to the airports (Orly and CDG) and stations (Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est) by the RER B. Access to the Lyon train station is directly by the bus 91. The studio is facing southwest.
You have a shower with unlimited hot water.
Sheets, towels and quality of dishes are provided.
You have the Internet wifi and free unlimited telephone to landlines in France, in French overseas departments, Europe, Australia, China, the USA, Canada and many other countries, and to mobile phones in France, the United States, Canada.
The studio is clean, comfortable and in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It has everything you need to rest/refresh after a busy day taking in Paris. As others have noted, it is quite small but very comfortable for one person or a couple that likes being cozy. Jean Pierre is friendly and quite helpful.
The biggest advantage to the studio is the location. It's in the middle of Paris's oldest neighborhood that is filled with cute cafes, delicious restaurants and tons of watering holes. I traveled alone and felt very safe in the neighborhood at all hours. It's just a short walk to Pantheon, Notre Dame and the Seine River. I would stay here again.
I spent nearly two weeks, July 2016, in this little "nest" near the Jardin des Plantes and Rue Monge.
The apartment gave me daily exercise going up and down the 60 steps to the third floor, though not as intense a workout as the Metro stairs and corridors provided.
The studio is to the back of the building and is quiet. The double bed felt a little short since when at home I share a King-sized bed, but I slept slightly diagonally and I didn't have to share it with a tall man and two cats! It was extremely comfortable, to my taste. A couple would want to remove the bolster at the top and stow it in the space under the bed, which is where I put my suitcase. I am short and was glad to have a step stool for climbing up onto the bed.
There is a little table and a chair, also a window seat. (There are some extra chairs stored near the table.) The window has room-darkening blinds; I used a sleep mask because some sunlight did come in early in the morning. I enjoyed cooking a few meals on the two electric burners; there is a grocery store a block or so down the hill, a fish market next door, a fresh fruit stand at the corner, a patisserie down the street and another across Rue Monge where I liked to buy a breakfast croissant. There is a refrigerator and a microwave oven.
One wall is lined with closets that have mirrored doors, inspiring me to stand up straight. Behind the doors there are storage shelves and several drawers, and a space for hanging your clothes, provided with about a dozen hangers.
The Metro is nearby (Censier-Daubeton stop). I also just walked to some of the places I wanted to see. There are many shops and restaurants along the narrow cobble-stoned one-way historic street.
I really loved staying here and recommend it very highly. (Upon arriving there you may think you have made a big mistake, as the door to the building is losing its paint and if the metal night-time security doors of the adjacent shops are down you will see plenty of graffitti, but the area seems safe; there is good lighting and there are a lot of people strolling by.)
I was 100% satisfied with my stay.
The host JP was great and very accommodating. The place was small but had everything I needed and more. I would definitely recommend this studio.
As others have said its SMALL. That was OK but the plumbing was an issue. JP addressed the issue very promptly though. This space is probably better suit for one person.
Studio is perfectly situated in a great area. Studio is quiet & inviting, comfortable bed, nice shower. I miss hearing the birds and church bells. Jean-Pierre was very helpful.
This studio is very small (think of it as a hotel room with a kitchen), but it is typical for Paris, and has everything you need. It is extremely well organized, with closets, cabinets, and lots of storage places, so it never feels cluttered. The bed is really comfortable (not the usual futon/sofa you normally get in a Parisian studio -- a real bed!) and you can store your luggage underneath.
The apartment is sunny, and very quiet because it faces a courtyard. No traffic, no noise from bars, and no garbage trucks waking you up at 6 in the morning! Yet you are in the heart of rue Mouffetard, walking distance to everything in the Latin Quarter and most of the Marais. For longer jaunts, the Metro is only a short block away.
Jean-Pierre is an attentive and amiable owner, who checked several times to be sure that everything was fine. The apartment includes free wifi and international phone calls to pretty much everywhere in the world, which is a great plus. I recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to live like a real Parisian.
