lovely middle cottage

  • 4 of 5

when we arrived there was a mix up but we got the best deal because the middle cottage was lovely ,with comfy furniture and we loved the bathroom which had concrete floors and shower walls .We had a barbeque on the side deck and walked along the ocean looking at all the shells.

The cottage was bright and cozy, I would certainly go back or recommend it. We found it was central to all we wanted to see Tofino, Horne caves, and whale watching at Eagle Eye Campbell river. Sept 25 to Oct 1st Bonnie and John St Catharines Ont

Great get away!

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet. We got a chance to unwind. The area was great for taking walks and the beach was close by. The place was clean. The bathroom a little on the small side - no big deal. Lots of cooking utensils, big fridge, nice stove. Pull out bed actually not bad. We thinking of coming back. Pub very close by which has music on the week-ends.

Clean, modern and well maintained. Everything you need to be very comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our time. Great location as a base to explore the Comox Valley. Bikes and kayaks are a nice addition to the property, although a bit of carry to get the kayaks to the water (low tide moved the shore 300 yards or so). All in all, a very good vacation property. And it's dog friendly 🐾

Perfect quiet retreat!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed for 5 nights at the Royston Retreat and honestly I can't wait to come back to the area. The house was perfect for a little family vacation, but with the weather being so nice, we spent most of the 'home time' out on the covered patio, swinging in the hammock, or exploring the beach (which you can walk to in about 3 minutes). The house was nicely decorated, and stocked with pretty much everything you'd need (only thing is not having a microwave, which we don't use anyway, but I noticed that). The area is charming and beautiful, with enough available to explore and stay busy if you're up for it, or as slow and relaxed as you can be if you're looking for down time.

A very cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent 3 nights in late October here....to get away from the crazy city (Vancouver). The cabin was very comfortable with decent cooking equipment. It was very clean and we liked the movable drapery (gave us privacy and light at same time). I would ask for is a small dining table inside. It was too cold/damp to use the outside table, so we ate at the coffee table (not great for my back). Location was perfect, loved the seaside walk and views. Saw many eagles, ducks and fish. Sadly we did not use the kayaks or bikes......way too much rain!

Cabin is so superior to a hotel room

  • 5 of 5

We have rented apartments around the world and have to say that we really enjoyed staying in this cabin while visiting our daughter who lives in Courtenay. It is clean and the bed is comfortable - two important criteria for us. Also loved having the washer and dryer. While it is on a bus route, having a car is ideal. We recommend that 2 more chairs be added to the high top table. Also, we agree with a previous reviewer who recommended a night table on closet side of the bed - I suggest a small chest of drawers. Enjoyed walks by the water - lots of bird life. Unfortunately weather wasn't warm enough for kayaks but we hope to return and use them. Loved the guest book and so we added a couple of recommendations for restaurants in the area. Anna communicated well with us and we would definitely recommend to others.

This oceanside neighbourhood is a bird sanctuary with birds from all over flocking to its shores during the cooler months. The weather in this bay is often sunnier than inland as the clouds like to stick to the mountains and is sheltered from direct winds.

There are many picnic areas and benches to enjoy the scenery as well as a nearby kayak launch point. The north end of the road is home to the Royston Shipwrecks. Our property faces south east to the Comox Harbour.

The Comox Valley is rich in recreation activities and the arts. Pretty much anything you can dream up is available to you!

A couple of our favorite local spots are:

The Goose Spit, Nymph Falls, Mt. Washington, Miracle Beach, Hornby and Quadra Islands

Our Favorite places to shop and eat are:

Waverley Hotel (live music and food), Atlas Cafe, Locals Restaurant, Cumberland Village and 5th St (for shopping), The White Whale Pub, Gladstone Brewery, The Cumberland Brewing Company, Darkside Chocolates, The Taco Bus at the Comox Marina, The Broken Spoke, The Farmer's Market (Saturdays @ The Fair Grounds)

Yoga: The Doghouse Studio
