Kyrenia House is built on a headland with stunning views across to the village of Agios Theodoros with the hills and mountains beyond. It is set in a large established garden with olive trees and a fruit orchard (apricots, figs, pomegranates and grape vine in season). There is a large private swimming pool and spacious patio areas for lounging and outdoor dining.
The house has 4 bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin bedded and a bunk bedded room). The large double rooms (with king size beds) and twin bed room all have en suite shower rooms and adjoining dressing rooms. Both double rooms have patio doors leading to the terrace and pool. The bunk bedded room is suitable for children only. There is an additional guest toilet.
The living space incorporates a well equipped modern kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating with large patio doors out to the pool and garden.
Agios Theodoros is a traditional village set in the hills a few minutes’ drive inland from the south coast between Larnaca and Limassol. Although a rural community mainly concerned with growing citrus fruits, olives, etc., together with farming sheep and goats for their milk and meat, it is less than 15 minutes from the major highway network linking Nicosia (45 km), Larnaca (32 km), Limassol (40 km) and Larnaca Airport (40 km). This makes it an ideal location for visiting the numerous places of interest on the island. The village itself (a 10 minutes walk downhill – a bit longer back up!) has a choice of tavernas, a butcher and a well-stocked small supermarket.
The house includes:
Fully equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, gas hob, electric oven, extractor, microwave, fitted cabinets, crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, electric kettle, toaster and dishwasher. Washing machine in separate utility cupboard with iron, ironing board and clothes airer.
Flat screen TV, DVD player and speakers for MP3 players in living room.
A 9m x 5m swimming pool (graduated in depth) with sunbeds and deck chairs. Pool is maintained regularly and to a high standard. Pergolas for shade. Outside shower, patio tables and chairs for outside dining at front and back of house. Children are of course very welcome, but the swimming pool is directly accessible from the house and there are no guards around the edge
Air conditioning units for cooling and heating in all bedrooms except bunk room (portable fans available). Two large ceiling fans in living room.
All bed linen and towels provided, including beach towels. Cleaning and a change of bed linen and towels will be carried out once a week. The price does not include additional housekeeping services but please enquire if you wish this to be arranged.
There is ample private parking and, as the house is single storey, it is suitable for elderly guests
Electricity included in price for reasonable usage calculated at €10 per day. Anything above will be charged at 25 cents per unit.
There is also a child bed, cot and high chair available.
No smoking is permitted on the property, inside or out.
The location of Kyrenia House means that wifi is not available without a USB dongle. However, the house is on a hill and friends and family access the internet via High Speed Packet Access on their smart phones (better than 3g but not quite 4g). The mobile signal is strong. Nearby beaches have wifi, as do local stores.
Approx. 10 minutes drive. There are a number of small sandy beaches along the coast, with cafés, sun loungers for hire etc. .
A car is essential. Remember – they drive on the left in Cyprus so driving is easy.
Things to do
Walk in the hills behind the house – especially beautiful in springtime when the wildflowers are everywhere. At the top of the hill you can see the sea.
It’s a great place for cycling. Many companies nearby offer both road and mountain bikes for hire.
For divers there is the Zenobia off Larnaca Bay (only 25 miles away).
