About Rhonda Chapin

I grew up in East Tennessee. I have five children that keeps me very busy, ages 19 to 2 years; three wonderful daughter and two awesome sons. I love spending time with my family and particularly enjoy spending time on the lake. I currently live in Rockwood, just one hour away from this home.

Rhonda Chapin purchased this house in 2003

Why Rhonda Chapin chose Watts Bar Lake

I grew up nearby in Rockwood, yet I worked in Knoxville when I purchase this home. I LOVE the water ... I really enjoy the exciting water sports, but also the calming effect it has on me when I just sit and enjoy the view. This was the perfect site in between the part of the lake I grew up enjoying and the proximity to make workplace.

What makes this house unique

The seclusion, yet convenience, peace and quiet, and breathtaking views of this location sold me before I even went inside. The home is very beautiful and unique with exposed beam ceilings and mahogany wood used throughout and lots and lots of windows for an open feel!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Some friends and I spent the weekend at the Sanctuary. We had so much fun and it was completely private as described. No need to leave. So much to do right at the property and so beautiful!

Relaxing, Unplugged, Quiet, Fun and You feel right at home when you walk in!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived very late we couldn't see the house in it's full perspective, when we woke to the sound of song birds, the wind blowing a warm breeze and the sound of lake fishing jump. It was truly something we have dreamed of. The house is beautifully decorated and open. There was plenty of space for all of us, including our furry babies. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and hot tub, looking at the stars at night. The lake was awesome. We had so much fun in the paddle boat and row boat. Caught and released lots of fish. The colors were just starting to change and the weather couldn't have been better for us. Smoky Mountains were a short and beautiful drive away for us to stay the day and hike, still make it back to enjoy the quiet sounds from the deck. Full moon off of the lake make it like a night lite. The owners were incredibly accommodating and came right out when we couldn't figure out the hot tub. They had it going in no time and made us feel welcome from the start. It was so wonderful and we didn't want to leave. Cannot wait to visit again and stay at the same place. The house is at the end of road and very private, which we loved! There is no wifi which is a BLESSING to Unplug!! They had plenty of movies to watch and games to play. We cooked everyday and didn't need anything.(we came prepared) The house is well stocked with all cooking essentials. Next time I will bring my large electric skillet, pancakes for 6 took me a bit longer, but we all enjoyed the wait. Everyone enjoyed cooking while looking out at the breathtaking lake view. The house has so many windows, it' s like being in a tree house. Can't wait to go back and stay! Thank you so much to the Chapins! You have done a great job with the property. Loved it ALL! Thank you!! I cannot say enough positive things. We miss it already!

A True Sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to this amazing area. The main house was comfortable and cozy and beautifully decorated and every thing we imagined and more. This year the pool house was open! We spent most of our days and nights outside. No internet, no news, no troubles. There was no TV antenna for the house, however this was a plus for us with the grandchildren.

There are DVD players, however No one watched anything...too much else to enjoy. Thank you Rhonda and family for being so responding quickly to our questions and the time you spent preparing for this wonderful vacation. I have read some of the comments by other guests. I cannot for the life of me understand them. Thank-you Becky and family

Best vacation we have ever had!

  • 5 of 5

The property was magnificent! The accommodations were great, even with 6 families there. It rained a little every day but didn't dampen our time together. The whole group enjoyed the pool from the 1yr old to the 78yr old. We couldn,t have wished for anything more!!!!!

A Sanctuary It Is!

  • 4 of 5

Most of our family was fortunate to be able to spend a week together for an all-family vacation at the Sanctuary. Calm, peaceful, quiet, serene, beautiful. The perfect getaway from the daily grind.

Rhonda went the extra mile to have the house ready for us when we arrived. When we met her, you could tell she cared a great deal and wanted us to have a wonderful week.

Our family only used the main house. (The part of our family that was going to use the pool house was not able to join us. We still took a quick tour of the pool house. If you need to use it for a large family gathering, you won't be disappointed!) The main house was spacious and accommodating. We had lots of room to spread out. The beds were very comfortable. Seating was very ample in the living and dining areas and on the decks. We ate dinner on the top deck a few nights as we continued to enjoy the outside and beautiful view. The kitchen is large and adequately stocked with cooking utensils and dishes. More than one cook can be working at the same time!

Since we spent much of our time outside, we really enjoyed the pool. It is beautiful. Water toys, games and 'noodles' are supplied. We were lucky to have great weather during our stay. We played with the Cornhole game out on the driveway. One evening we built a fire in the fire ring in the backyard and made s'mores. On our last full day at the Sanctuary it rained but we still played pool inside and had a good time!

Since part of our family loves to fish, we were able to fish from the shore. We caught a lot of little blue gills and one very decent-sized catfish that we threw back in. The only disappointing part of our trip was that we were not able to get out on the lake. When we attempted to use the canoe for the first time, the front seat broke. It looked as if it had already been repaired before. The paddle boat had water caught inside of it on the right side. We were not able to get the water out and decided it was unsafe to use.

All in all, we really enjoyed our Tennessee vacation at the Sanctuary. We would recommend it for a large family gathering. If you go, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Owner's Response: I am so very delighted to hear that your family enjoyed your time at the Sanctuary! My greatest hope is to do my best to ensure that your time with us is all that you hoped. I was disappointed to hear about the boating issues. Unfortunately the boats do get a lot of use and wear. The paddle boat is actually new, but they do take on water when it rains and the seating area fills with water. It can take a long time leaned on it's side to get the water out. My apologies that it was in such condition. We do hope to have your lovely family stay again in the future!
