Overview

About the property

Cae Dee is our home. It's a charming stone built house in five acres of woodland on the River Wye in lower Penallt outside Monmouth. The accommodation includes the principal guest double bedroom plus a further smaller double room and a kids' room with bed & cot. There's a private bathroom and sitting area all in its own wing of the house. The idyllic setting boasts panoramic views and direct access to the river. It's the perfect spot for exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty. Lots of great walks and friendly local pubs offering home cooking close by.

We offer a beautiful double bedroom with period features and a stunning view over the Wye Valley. The room includes a comfortable double bed with Egyptian cotton bed linen, luxurious bath towels, wifi access and tea making facilities.

In addition to the principal guest double bedroom, we have a second smaller double room plus a kids bedroom with a small bed and a cot. So a group of four plus a couple of small kids can be accommodated comfortably. Note: we never mix separately booked rooms so if it's just two people - that's it - no strangers sharing!

Downstairs guests are invited to take breakfast on a fabulous, covered raised deck looking out over the valley, or in winter time in the cosy dining room.

Through the main front door and up the stairs, the guest accommodation is at one end of the hóuse with a spacious landing and seating area with sofa and remote controlled flat screen TV. Guests enjoy exclusive use of a generous bathroom with large bath tub, separate shower and WC.

Guests are welcome to wander through our garden and woodland which leads directly down to the river. There are many good walks in the area and we are happy to provide information on these as well as local places of interest.

We have two small dogs here. They're "out of the way" at one end of the house so guests don't come into contact with them (unless of course, they actually want to). We must however advise, sorry but no guest pets.

About Pete & Lou

Lou & Pete moved to Wales from Bath ten years ago. We're fond of meeting new people and offer a warm welcome to all our visitors.

Why Pete & Lou chose Monmouth

Cae Dee is a rural idyll surrounded by woodland with riverside frontage. The changing seasons are reflected in the foliage of the trees and many wild flowers. Our house is large enough to offer an attractive wing of the property to visitors who can relax in privacy. Great local pubs are within walking distance for food and drinks. We can also provide delicious evening meals here by arrangement, usually £15 pp inclusive of wine.

What makes this bed and breakfast unique

An area of outstanding natural beauty, easily reached by car and close enough to lots of attractions whilst retaining its woodland seclusion.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lou and Pete were great hosts and we felt welcome as soon as we had arrived. The house is amazing and the surrounding area is gorgeous. The rented accommodation gave us lots of room to ourselves (including a lovely private bathroom) and was kept very clean. We ended up spending New Years Eve staying in as we enjoyed the place too much to leave. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic, we couldn't have asked for more.

Excellent accommodation, excellent location, excellent hosts and excellent food. Even the weather was excellent. We'd give more stars, but this only goes up to 5.

Lovely & secluded B & B.

We had a lovely 2-night stay in this secluded B&B set in a wooded valley and found our hosts to be very welcoming and hospitable. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we return to the area.
